And as expected, he's wearing lederhosen. Cute! Nothing I need, but cute nonetheless. The blog post implies something else will be revealed tomorrow, so let's hope it's the Best of Breyerfest Stablemate set! 

In other reveals, the first test run drawing of the year has been unveiled - take a look at the model I'm dubbing Toast: 

...both for the state of our wallets after buying these things, and because it makes a nice contrast to strudel. 

All things considered, Classics test models that end up in the public's hands seem to be few and far between (at least, in the last 15 to 20 years); possibly because Classics just aren't as popular as Traditionals. There used to be a fair number of them in Breyerfest live auctions in the 1990s, but there hasn't been one in a live auction for a number of years now. I think Breyer gave away one of the Man o' War tests from the "Who wore it best?" competition collector club members voted on a few years back, but other than that I don't know of any Classics tests that escaped the Breyer offices in recent years. So this guy is pretty special! 

One might think he'd be a little more modestly priced, considering the Classics line's lack of popularity, but he's priced at $650 - not much less than a typical Trad test run. Nothing I need in my own collection, fortunately, though it'd be nice to own a genuine test model. Maybe someday! 

Blanca, and Slyder!

 Wow, we already have our Breyerfest reveal - say hello to Blanca! 

I must say, Charleston does look mighty handsome in black. I do still have mine languishing on my shelf, where he ended up after various attempts to sell him came up with nothing. He's kept company by the Skye that came with my Single-Day Breyerfest Stablemates from last year. Anyway, Blanca will be awarded to the runners-up in the Best Customs Contest, so needless to say, one of them won't end up in my house by accident. But on to our next reveal, Slyder! 

This is the release that was teased in the Collector Club newsletter at the end of last month, and a lot of people were right - it's the Classic Hollywood Dun It! I've been waiting for this release to come out from pure curiosity about what colors they were going to use - I had no plans to buy any of them, which is good because they were sold out by the time I saw the email about them. That gray is pretty, though! He looks like an old-school smoke colorway. Nice! And I'm intrigued that all three of them are glossy - usually they leave one matte, but not this time. I wonder if more will come in stock later? I still don't plan on buying any, but it seemed like they sold out REALLY fast this time. Good luck if they come back in stock! 

March Collector Club Newsletter

 Well, Hendrik may have made his appearance early, but this month's Collector Club newsletter is right on schedule for the last day of the month. If you're a Collector Club member, check your email to read it (it may be in your junk mail, FYI). There's a fun article about Breyer anniversaries - I hadn't thought about the fact that this year is 10 years since the Weather Girl treasure hunt. Where does the time go? Ugh, and Wixom and Silver are both 20 years old! 

Moving through the article, a tiny part of me is pleased to see them refer to the Black Stallion as "the Black," as it's been a mild source of frustration for me every time I see someone refer to him as The Black. Vindication! And I had not realized the Black Stallion, Smoky and the Stock Horse Stallion were all the same age! Crazy.

Based on the "slide" clue, astute people on the Internets have figured out that it's Hollywood Dun It, which indicates that he'll be this year's Collector Club special run on a Classics mold, in the same vein as Nayati, Callahan, etc. He's definitely deserving of some love, considering the mold is 22 years old and has had barely more than a handful of releases in that time. I don't think I've ever owned one of them myself - there was a brief period of time where I wanted to collect him, before deciding I didn't need to expand my horizons that far. So I won't be buying one of these (presuming there's more than one color). Oh well - more for everyone else! And my wallet will thank me.
