March Collector Club Newsletter!

Greetings, readers! It's the end of the month, and you know what that means - a new Collector Club newsletter! If you're a club member, check your email to see more. There's an article about the history of various Secretariat releases, a new Collector Club workshop (Swapping Tails), an Encore and Tor and plush giveaway, and this tantalizing sneak peek:

I'm thinking Yasmin for some reason, but I'm probably wrong. Web special? Classics special run (so, not Yasmin)? Who knows. We're supposed to find out in April, so let's hope we don't have to wait too long!

Best Customs Contest prizes revealed!

Greetings, readers! Last week's two sneak peeks were revealed on the blog today- meet this year's Best Customs Contest prizes! I'll start with Kansas:

Ooh, she's pretty! I believe this is the first time a Best Customs prize has been done in chestnut. As expected, that's the original Forever Saige pattern. I'm simultaneously breathing a sigh of relief that this model wasn't a black version of Hamilton (yay!) while also saying goodbye to my complete Forever Saige collection (boo!).

Next, here's the runner-up prize, Willamette:

Guess I have to say goodbye to a complete Darley collection, too. Oh well. He's pretty too! I wish Breyer would hold some kind of creative writing contest with these kinds of prizes for people that don't have the artistic skills to compete.

In other news, while I don't have any photos, the Vintage Club and Premier Club welcome letters have been arriving in people's mailboxes. They're being very cryptic with this year's Vintage Club releases, which irritates me to no end. Signups are closed! Subscribers are locked in! With the lukewarm reaction to the first two releases, maybe people would be more enthusiastic about the rest of them if they KNEW WHAT THEY WERE! Sheesh. Don't even get me started on the "leaping Lipizzaner" Stablemate coming at the end of the year - the only Stablemate mold that fits that description is Darwin, with a really loose definition of "leaping."

Anyway, apparently this year's Premier Club Stablemate is a miniature Zafirah, which...doesn't fill me with excitement. I suspect she won't be the same color as Cancion, since it would be super similar to her original color. Nor do I think she'll be the buckskin leopard-pintaloosa-whatever sneak peek we got, since that's a wildly not-Arabian color. So maybe whatever color the mare and foal set are? And yes, we got official confirmation of a draft mare and foal set (I know we got a sneak peek of that last year). Finally! Hey, maybe I can trade my mini Zafirah for the VC Stablemate. Here's hoping!

Another sneak peek...

Well, of all the things that could have happened today, I wouldn't have thought we'd get another sneak peek...but there is one! Behold!

No idea what it is, but it's probably the Stablemate runner-up prize for the Best Customs Contest. I hope we find out on Monday, I guess!

The main point of today's Breyerfest Blog post was the Breyer Boot Camp show galleries becoming available, so if you're still interested in that, signups end on April 14!

Finally, a new Breyerfest sneak peek!

Well, March is almost over and we're finally getting a new Breyerfest reveal! Here's the sneak peek:

An eagle-eyed Blabber noted that this looks like Forever Saige's pattern, so I'm guessing it's the Best Customs Contest prize as Forever Saige in bay. Let's hope we get a reveal tomorrow!

Ooh, stunning!

Good news, readers! There's a new test run available for Collector Club members to enter for! Well, I guess it is tax season, huh? Check this guy out!

This may be the nicest one they've done yet - I don't remember one of these causing as much of a stir since the glossy black Semi-Rearing Mustang from a few years back. I don't collect Big Ben (anymore), but I'm entering for this one - I'd be interested in seeing what I could trade him for if I won. Side note - I don't think I'd really describe that color as rose gray due to his unfortunate tinge of yellow...but then, I'm not sure what I would call it instead. Oh well.  Good luck to everyone entering!

Magpie selections are out!

Good news, Collector Club members - Magpie selections have been made! Check your email to see if you're been drawn (or go to the Breyer website and see if you're able to purchase him). I wasn't drawn this time, but no biggie - I'm sure I can find one somewhere down the line. Congratulations to all the winners!

Magpie!

Well, looks like I was wrong once again - we have a decorator Birds of a Feather release! Check out Magpie!

What a beauty. I hope I get drawn! Gotta add him to the rest of my Show Jumping Warmbloods. I've always liked him with the loose mane and tail. The entry deadline is 11:59PM March 16, so definitely don't waste time entering! And good luck to everyone entering.

In other news, the grab bags from the end of last year are coming back! No word on what the "special surprise" is this time, but it's probably more Breyerfest store special leftovers. Yawn- nothing I need there.

Lastly, there's a sample Paddy for sale on Breyer's eBay account! Check him out here. Paddy was a web special from way back in 2012, and only 222 were produced. There was also a "Pot o' Gold" buckskin Paddy produced, but I don't know if he's ever surfaced or been photographed. Good luck to everyone bidding!

The next Vintage Club release has been revealed!

Good news, everyone! The next Vintage Club release was revealed on the Vintage Club blog today. If you're a VC member, check the blog on the Breyer website for more. Anyways, here's the model!

Cool, it's Secretariat on the Man o' War Classic in honor of the 50th anniversary of his Triple Crown win. The box is retro-styled but has new art by Kathleen Moody, and 50 of the Secretariats will be gold rather glossy bay chestnut (seriously, their "style" is to put dark points on every chestnut, but the real Secretariat did not have dark points, nor did any of his previous portrait models, so...why?). He seems pretty spendy for a Classic, too - $162.50 seems a bit much for a ho-hum chestnut Classic, even if you might be lucky enough to get a gold one. Nice idea, I guess?

Easter plush and kids' grab bags!

Hmm, I'm not sure if we were expecting this - but Breyer did a plush for Easter this year! Check out Blossom!

She's cute! I like the little flowers. Order here here if you're so inclined.

In related news, Breyer is doing Easter kids' grab bags! I'm not a grab bag person myself (aside from the ones at the end of last year - what a dummy), but supposedly the kids' ones are usually good at making actual kids happy. Nothing I need to buy, but maybe someone out there has kids that need birthday presents or something?
