Glossy and matte Carmen

Good news, everyone! There was another Premier Club reveal today. It turns out Carmen will be available in glossy and matte (members will choose which finish they receive):

I like her from this angle, anyways. And that color is beautiful! I’m leaning more toward keeping her, but I’ll withhold final judgement until I have her in hand.

The pony revealed!

I’m a bit late with this, but the pony release for next year’s Premier Club has been revealed! Behold:

I’m not crazy about it, honestly. I wasn’t a fan of Laura Skillern’s prior sculpts for Breyer (Charleston and Winnifred) so it’s not surprising. I’m still hoping it’s a pair of ponies, or a foal turns up later. Maybe I’ll like it more when I see what color it is? I am glad they showed us all three sculpts in advance, though. More of that, please!

Featured JAH - 12/21/2025, Annual 2024

Hello and welcome to another edition of Featured Model! This is our first Featured Model post-move to NZ. This week we'll be covering the Annual 2024 issue, so let's get started!

On the front cover, a handsome Lywellyn canters through a cross country course.

Editor's Letter appears on page 2.

I don't have access to my JAH magazines, so anything that got skipped while I was scanning these issues will have to remain a mystery (I think there was a Breyerfest ad on page 3). On page 4 is the 75th Anniversary article.

The 75th Anniversary article continues on page 5.

On page 6 we have the article about Breyer portrait model Atlanta, winner of the 2018 Hambletonian.

The Atlanta article concludes on page 7.

On page 8 is the first page of the Breyerfest 2024 recap/photo journal.

The Breyerfest recap continues on page 9.

More Breyerfest on page 10.

The Breyerfest photo journal concludes on page 11.

After skipping...something, on page 14 we have the first page of the Rainbow Pony tutorial. Normally I skip this stuff, but it's hard for me to resist rainbows.

More Rainbow Pony on page 15.

Rainbow Pony wraps up on page 16.

On page 17, Bandalero makes his debut.

After skipping a bunch of stuff, Legend appears on page 26!

On page 27 we have Legend's article.

After skipping more stuff, on page 32 we have this week's Vintage Point featuring Brighty!

Vintage Point wraps up on page 33.

On page 35 is a short article about black point Proud Arabians.

On page 36 we have a short recap of the Spokes & Spurs collector event.

The first page of the Salvino article appears on page 38.

More Salvino on page 39.

After Salvino we go straight to Quietway Spinabbey.

After skipping the New Product Guide for 2024, on the back cover of the magazine we find the Apres Ski Holiday Horse, along with some of the 2024 Holiday stuff. And with that, we've reached the end of this week's issue! Check back next week for (spoiler alert!) Annual 2025!

Another pony?

Well, looks like we’ll get to see the third Premier Club release for next year after all! Breyer released this sketch today:

My first thought: another pony? When we still need a true draft mare and foal? Meh. I’m not opposed to pony molds, but I’m not really into shaggy ones either. Then someone else pointed out that this pony looks fairly small, which makes me wonder if this will be a small pony set - because close to $200 is a lot for one small pony. I wonder what color this one will be?

So it is Merry Dancer!

Well, the leaks were accurate after all - the Christmas Surprise turned out to be the previously-leaked Merry Dancer after all:

I don’t think the green one was in the leaks, though. In any case, while the colors are pretty, I don’t need to buy any of these - especially for $150 a pop. Good luck to everyone buying, though! I almost wish they’d used a mold I collect, because I really do like the colors (which are based on the northern lights, according to Breyer).

Another reveal, and the Christmas surprise!

Good news, everyone! We have a full reveal of the Karen Gerhardt sculpt for the Premier Club! Behold:

She’s a pretty color, but I’m still not enthusiastic about the rest of her. I’ll have to see what she looks like in hand before I decide if I want her.

In other exciting news, I got a fun email from Breyer today:

It’s this year’s Christmas surprise! Seems like they move it earlier every year, but maybe I’m just imagining it. Most people think it’ll be the pink, purple and black Strapless models that were leaked online earlier this year. That’s what I’m hoping they are, anyway. But anything is possible! They’ll go live “around noon” EST tomorrow, so I guess we’ll find out then. I have an alarm set for 6am here so I don’t miss it!

A reveal!

Greetings, readers! Well, we got a 2026 Premier club reveal today, though we’d already seen the sketch of it. Here it is!

The actual sculpt of the old Karen Gerhardt resin this released is based on! I’m still kind of meh about it, but I’ll reserve final judgement for when I see the paint job. Speaking of which…will we get to see that before the deadline? Will we get to see the third release? It makes it a lot easier to spend the money to join the club when we see all of what we’re buying ahead of time…

Arroyo and Baja!

Another day, another Stablemates Club reveal, eh? Say hello to Arroyo and Baja!

Well, I do believe I’ll need to add this set to my collection! I always have room for more Andalusians and playful foals! Though I have a bad feeling that this set may end up being a matte/glossy split…

2026 Vintage Club reveal!

Good news, readers! Breyer revealed another release in the 206 Vintage club today. The club hasn’t sold out yet (as far as I cai can tell) but I’m not sure this reveal helped that situation all that much…

The “old-style blue roan” colorway is neat, but this set has the same problem as Surrey and Axle from 2023 - people that collect the foal molds will be forced to buy both sets and then have an extra Running Stallion they don’t want. Most of the comments I’ve seen online indicate that they still aren’t planning on joining the club until more is revealed, which I agree with. Don’t join the club until the last minute! That encourages them to reveal more stuff. I won’t be joining in any case.

Featured JAH - 12/13/2025, Annual 2023

Hello and welcome to another edition of Featured Model! By the time this is posted, we'll have completed our move to New Zealand, so hopefully everything is going well for future me! In the meantime, we're covering the Annual 2023 issue today, so let's get started!

On the front cover, Rhiannon and Rhemi look cute. Almost makes me wish I hadn't sold mine.

Editor's Desk appears on page 2, as usual.

On page 3 we have a short article about Cheryl White and her model/doll and book. I did buy this set but haven't gotten around to reading the book yet. One of these days...

On page 4 is the first page of the Cody's Wish article.

The Cody's Wish article appears on page 5.

The Breyerfest 2023 recap starts on page 6.

More Breyerfest 2023 on page 7.

And the Breyerfest 2023 recap concludes on page 8.

After skipping an ad for Breyerfest 2024 and the 2023 Best Customs Contest winners, on page 12 we have the first page of an article on the making of the medieval tack set that I believe was a finalist in the 2023 Best Customs Contest.

The chainmail article continues on page 13.

The chainmail article concludes on page 14.

After skipping an article about social media and the first page of the ATP Power article (a full-page photo of the model), on page 17 we have the full ATP Power article.

After skipping a how-to article, on page 21 we have a short overview of all the Breyer Holiday Horses.

After skipping an ad for the 2024 Stablemates Club and photo show results, on page 26 is the first part of an article about sculptor Kylee Parks.

I remember Kylee's artwork being featured in at least one past issue of JAH, so it's fun to see her become a sculptor for Breyer.

More Kylee on page 28.

The Kylee Parks article wraps up with a Q&A on page 29.

On page 30 we have Vintage Point, this week featuring Secretariat! 2023 marked 50 years since his Triple Crown win.

Vintage Point wraps up on page 31.

After skipping page 32 (a listing of Secretariat releases) and an ad for the 2024 Vintage Club, on page 34 is the first page of the Full Moon Rising article.

The actual Full Moon Rising article appears on page 33.

On page 34 we have an article about vintage customs.

More vintage customs on page 35.

Vintage customs wraps up on page 36.

On page 37 we have a short article about Breyer nightlights.

On page 38 we have Artist's Sketch, featuring Nichelle Jones. Those little Christmas presents are so cute!

After skipping the 2023 New Product Guide, on the back cover of the magazine we have the handsome Highlander with his little Max antlers! And with that, we've reached the end of this week's issue! Check back next week (maybe) for Annual 2024!
