Colby and Brooks!

Alert, alert, alert! Colby and Brooks are now available to order on the Tractor Supply website! Go go go go go! People were having some trouble ordering earlier today, but the issue seems to have been resolved. I ordered a Brooks as fast as I could and it already shipped! I'm looking forward to seeing him. No sign of the other two special runs just yet, but I'm sure they'll show up eventually.

In other news, I did receive my Riah on Monday. He was the gray version, but due to what seems to be a common tail issue, he had to go back.

It's hard to see from this angle, but not only is that white stuff at the base of his tail, but it also goes down onto the tail and was even present at the base of his mane, forelock and down onto his face. So, he had to go back. I've seen a lot of Riahs with this issue posted online, so hopefully Breyer has enough replacements for everyone, because...this is pretty egregious.

And lastly, Hoofbeats and Maple Treats is coming up on Friday! Woohoo! I'm flying to Toronto tomorrow, and I'm excited to be able to report from a collector event for the first time since 2016. And I'm looking forward to finding out what those boutique models are! See you all soon.

2026 Celebration Horse!

Exciting news, readers! The 2026 Breyerfest Celebration Horse was announced today - behold!

As many people predicted, it's a Fjord on the Astrid mold! Huzzah! I love her two-tone tail and her soft brown shading. There's been some grumbling that she looks similar to Sweetwater's Zorah Belle, but I kinda feel like we're going to have to get used to releases on this mold resembling each other, because there just isn't a lot of color variation between Fjords. Similar to how we're going to have to get used to having more than one black release on Goffert (still on two so far).

But anyway...yay! I love her. Though this does mean there's going to be a glossy one I'll need to get my hands on, but I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I'm just glad we get to find out the Celebration Horse/Model this early! We used to have to wait until January - what a drag!

Featured JAH - 10/25/2025, Annual 2017

Hello and welcome to another edition of Featured JAH! This week we're covering the Annual 2017 issue, so let's get started!

Ah, 2017. It was a magical time! We were living in a cramped apartment, I was pregnant with my son, and the beautiful Carina and Selene were the third Premier Club releases of that year.

The Editor's Desk appears on page 2 as usual.

After skipping page 3 (an ad for the 2018 Premier Club featuring the same photo of Bristol that appears above) and page 4 (an ad for Breyerfest 2018), on page 5 we have a short article about sculptures appearing in the Premier Club.

On page 6 is the first page of the article about PVF Peace of Mind.

The Peace of Mind article ends on page 7. I couldn't find any information on the real Hunny, but she would be 18 now, so it's entirely possible she's still around.

After skipping the year's photo contest results, on page 10 we have an article about equine photographer Christiane Slawik.

The Slawik article continues on page 11.

More Slawik article on page 12. I love that bottom left photo!

The Slawik article wraps up on page 13.

On page 14 is the first page of an article about Cobra, consisting of a full-page photo of him. Woohoo!

The Cobra article appears on page 15.

On page 16 we have a small article about Breyer's Pony Up! event.

On page 17 we have a performance photo from Breyerfest Live 2017 as the beginning of the Breyerfest 2017 recap.

Live Show highlights appear on page 18.

More live show highlights on page 19.

General/guest horse highlights on page 20.

More highlights on page 21.

Even more highlights on page 22.

The last of the highlights appear on page 23.

After skipping several how-to articles, on page 34 we have Behind the Scenes of the Vintage Collector's Club! Hey, not all of those tests are vintage...

After skipping the reveal of the 2018 Vintage Club (if only they'd still do that...), on page 36 we have an article about Breyer portrait horse Hwin!

On page 37 is the first part of this week's Vintage Point article, this time featuring Swaps! Huzzah!

Vintage Point continues on page 38.

More Vintage Point on page 39.

Vintage Point wraps up on page 40.

After skipping the 2017 New Product Guide, on the back cover of this issue is the handsome Winter Wonderland, the beautiful pearly palomino Totilas. And that brings us to the end of this week's issue! Check back next week for Annual 2018.

Black-point Riah...

Greetings, readers! The black-point variation of Riah was added to the buy page today and, well...

I'm really not that impressed by it. You can barely tell any difference between the two? From the buy page:

Even more exciting, 75 lucky Vintage Club members will receive Riah variations with black points, echoing the hard-to-find dapple grey Proud Arabian variations available only in the mid-1980s. Which one will you receive?

Here's another view:

It looks like a darker variation of the regular one. Most of the black-point Proud Arabians didn't have socks, so if they were really going for a black-point Proud Arabian look, you'd think they would have replicated it correctly. Maybe there'll be more of a difference in person? I hope so, because I'm wondering how many of these will be sold on the cheap because they were mistaken for the common version.

Riah and glossy Beau!

Good news, Vintage Club members! This year's optional model has been announced! Behold:

His name is Riah! I definitely didn't have "Proud Arabian dapple gray Anamar" on my bingo card, that's for sure. I'm not crazy about the color on him, but maybe I'll get lucky - 75 of these guys will be the coveted "black-point" dapple gray that showed up on some of the Proud Arabians in the '80s. The model in the promo photo appears to be glossy, but Breyer clarified in a Facebook comment that they're supposed to be matte...so I guess we'll see what shows up. I have one on order from a Blabber, so I'm excited to see which one I get!

In other news, the BreyerMidwest event model was revealed today! They teased it on Friday, but I was too busy to post about it over the weekend. Anyway, it's Beau N' Arrow (from this year's Breyerfest) in gloss!

He looks nice in gloss, but he's nothing I need. Which is good, because Kansas in January sounds terrible. If you want to reserve your glossy Beau, they go on sale tomorrow along with registrations for BreyerMidwest and such.

Featured JAH - 10/18/2025, Annual 2016

Hello and welcome to another edition of Featured JAH! We're covering the Annual 2016 issue this week, so let's get going!

On the front cover, Fantasia del C and rider dance into our hearts. I first saw this JAH cover at Chasing the Chesapeake and was wowed by the tack and rider - it looks great on the model! I wonder if we'll get to see this year's JAH cover at Hoofbeats and Maple Treats?

In the Editor's Desk, Stephanie recaps the year and previews the issue as usual.

After skipping the reveal of True North and an ad for Breyerfest 2017, on page 7 we have a short article about Breyer portrait horse Snowman.

On page 8 we have an article about Brunello.

After skipping some Breyerwest photos and the first part of the Cortes C article (a photo of him with Beezie Madden), on page 11 we have the first page of the actual Cortes C article.

The Cortes C article wraps up on page 12. Cortes C sadly died in 2023 at the age of 21.

On page 13 we have an update on American Pharoah, purportedly dictated to Kelly Weimer.

After skipping a brief article about Pony Up!, on page 15 we have another short article about Carltonlima Emma. Oh yeah - 2016 was the year Breyer introduced several black models (Cortes C, Rhapsody in Black, Emma, Cherry Creek Fonzie Merit) to the regular run line (and then Dag Dia and Namid at Breyerfest!) and made us all wonder if there had been a special on black paint.

On page 16 is the first page of the Breyerfest 2016 photo journal.

The Breyerfest photo journal continues on page 17.

More Breyerfest photos on page 18.

The Breyerfest photos wrap up on page 19.

On page 20 we have an article about the Rio Olympics.

The Rio article concludes on page 21.

After skipping most of the Hobbyist Hangout/how-to section of the magazine, on page 32 we have an article about clinkies!

The clinkies article wraps up on page 33.

After skipping more how-to stuff, on page 40 we've reached this issue's Vintage Club, featuring the ever-popular Othello mold! I think it would be accurate to say Othello is my favorite mold, so it's great to see him featured here. Crossing my fingers that he won't be a special run at Hoofbeats and Maple Treats, though.

Vintage Point continues on page 41.

Vintage Point mostly concludes on page 42. I skipped the last part because it was a listing of all the different Othello releases, which is outdated anyway.

After skipping the 2015/2016 New Product Guide, on page 54 we have On the Trail with Breyer.

After skipping the inside cover of the magazine (just an ad for the 2017 Stablemates Club), on the back cover of the magazine we have Woodland Splendor, the 2016 Holiday Horse! A handsome color on Lonesome Glory. And that brings us to the end of this week's issue! Check back next week for Annual 2017.
