The first batch of auction models!

Exciting news today, readers - the first batch of auction model photos has been posted on the blog! Behold:

Be still, my heart. I’m sure this one will be out of my price range, but it’s nice to dream. I’m not planning on bidding on any auction models this year, anyway.

Ooh, a handsome black splash (I think?) Wyatt! Nothing I need, though.

Interesting color on this one, but still nothing I need. It kind of reminds me of the roan pinto Stagecoach Surprise, actually.

I’m pretty meh on this one, honestly, but I’ve never been a fan of True North. Needs more white, I think. Or a coat of gloss. This group is sadly lacking in the gloss department.

That’s it for this week - dare I hope we get more auction models this week? I wish they still did the one-model-per-day countdown, though - I feel like it helped build excitement way better.

Yellowstone!

Aha, we have a resolution to the sneak peek from last month's newsletter! Behold - Yellowstone!

He's the newest entry in the Wild Animal series - a pronghorn antelope! Uh, without the horns.

Nothing I need, fortunately. I'm trying to cut back on my spending (as usual) so I'll take any opportunity.

They also made 750 of these things, so even if I did decide I wanted one, I don't think it'll be hard to get one. So good luck to everyone entering! The deadline for entry is 9/17. Three days to enter? Sheesh, I remember the bad old days when they'd show a sneak peek, then show us the model a week later, then the entry period was a week long, THEN models would be drawn. We've come a long way, huh? Of course, the models were $135 in those days. Win some, lose some.

My wallet is happy so far

Another day, another Breyerfest 2022 reveal...behold!

Two food-inspired releases in a row? Well, at least they weren't themed after soft pretzels with mustard, or sauerkraut or something. Today we get Marzipan! Wyatt was last used in the special run line in 2016 as Bozeman, so it's good to see him get another release, even if it's one I don't have any interest in. I saw a post by Sommer Prosser on Facebook that she designed this one, so that's nice. I wonder if this one will get a glossy/matte split? He'd look good glossy.

Let's hope we get another exciting release tomorrow! Hopefully something I want...because Breyer is batting about 50/50 with releases I want so far.

Fall releases!

Exciting news, everyone - Breyer's Fall Releases have been revealed! Say hello to Steele, this year's brick-and-mortar special run:

Ooh, a new Wyatt! Nothing I need, fortunately. This is the brick-and-mortar release, which means dealers aren't allowed to sell it online. So...good luck finding one in the wild, I guess! I'm just glad I don't want it, so I don't have to scramble to try to find one somewhere that's somewhat local to me.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of this next release...

A glossy rainbow Othello?! Be still, my heart...my almost-complete conga must remain almost-complete! Someone on Blab pointed out how they reversed the colors on him this time, and I really like it! What a beauty. I love the shade of purple, blue and red/pink they used. I've reserved one from the "somewhat" local dealer I found last year, so I should have one joining the herd sometime next month...or whenever they arrive from Breyer. No sign of my Thriller yet, by the by...but anyways.

There's also a new series of Mini Whinnies blind bags!

Interesting to note that these are all the "old" Mini Whinnies - none of the new molds from recent years are pictured here, unless this is an old picture? Not sure.

And now for something (almost) completely different...a puzzle?

I had to scrutinize the picture to make sure those were all releases we've seen so far, and I think they are - they all look familiar, anyway. I have to admit I'm not the biggest puzzle person, but I'm considering getting this. Hmm...maybe once Collector Club Appreciation time arrives and I'm looking to pad out my order?

The 2018 Auction Model Countdown has begun!

Well, I don't know if it actually is a countdown this year, since they posted 5 (or 4, rather) auction models all at once and the countdown shouldn't have started until later this week, but anyway...we have auction models! Here's lot #1, on Halla (!):

I'm pretty sure that's the Halla, not the Bolya. We were told at Chasing the Chesapeake that the centerpiece model, Dixon, was made from the last of the Halla whiteware from before the mold was permanently altered to become Bolya. So are they super-serious about it being the last of the whiteware this time? How many more do they actually have?

As for the model itself, she's gorgeous! I would have called this one this year's chump change model, but I have a feeling she'll go high just because of the stunning paint job. She's a winner! I just wish her head was a little prettier - I'd be more inclined to collect the mold if it was.

Oh well. On to Lot 2, the Wyatt!

This one is less stunning to me, possibly because he isn't glossy. He definitely has a lot of detail in his paint job, though!

Next - the Clydesdale Stallion!

Looks like somebody decided to put Bluebird's color on this guy, only slightly less blue. Plus, he's a Packers fan! But I'm not really a fan of this one at all...I think it's his dark legs. I'd prefer to see lighter legs or even some white stockings...but that's just me.

Next - a mystery lot. Grr. It's becoming increasingly apparent that they're only doing this so we can't guess the surprise model in advance. Boo, hiss, etc.

And lastly, one we've seen before - Cloverleaf!

He's still described as silver bay on the blog, which irks me because he clearly isn't silver bay! And we know Breyer knows what silver bay is, because Callahan just came out! Gah.

That's all the auction models Breyer decided to grace us with today - maybe we'll get some more tomorrow! I'll be crossing all my fingers and toes!

Fletcher is available for preorder!

Exciting news! Next year's first Collector Club special run, Fletcher, is already available for preorder - with a choice of matte or glossy finish!

They haven't had this option for Collector Club members before - I wish they would! Oh well. I won't be ordering this guy anyway, since I don't collect Wyatt. He sure is nice-looking in glossy, though!

Here he is in matte (with a different-colored stand - interesting).

He looks like a completely different model in matte. I definitely like the glossy better - though I'm still wondering what's going to happen with those three test models that were in the tent at Breyerfest.

In the meantime, Fletcher can be preordered by current Collector Club members until November 30, so undecided members have plenty of time to decide if they want him. His total cost is $75 plus shipping, with a $25 deposit due at the time of preorder. Order him here!

Collector Club 2018 memberships are now open!

Exciting news! Collector Club memberships for 2018 can now be purchased on Breyer's website. More importantly, the club structure is being revamped somewhat to be based on the calendar year rather than the old rollover structure. If you're already a Collector Club member, presumably you've received an email about this explaining the changes and providing a discount code to extend your membership through the end of the year, based on when it currently expires (or longer, if it expires next year sometime). And, apparently this flashy guy is one of next year's Collector Club models!

His name is Fletcher, according to the website (where do they come up with these names?). He's beautiful, especially with the gloss (Gloss on a Collector Club special run? Gasp! They haven't done that since Tesoro de Oro in 2014!).

Interestingly, he looks a lot like these three models that were on display in the Collector Club tent at Breyerfest this year:

They're similar, but not quite the same shade of...whatever color that is. Unless Fletcher's gloss is really bringing out the color there. So are they not going to use any of the bottom three? It would be weird to have both of next year's Collector Club horses be appaloosas in almost the same color (and disappointing for me, as I don't collect any of these molds). I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Christmas Countdown - Leftover Jesses?

This morning Breyer added a new item to their site for Day 22 of their Christmas Countdown:

He appears to be identical to the Tractor Supply SR 'Jesse' from last year - and is already sold out. I didn't buy one, though; I'm not really into the Wyatt mold, so I passed him up. I'm guessing they had extra Jesse models left over from last year - maybe they just referred to it as the "Palomino Quarter Horse" on the website so TSC wouldn't get upset about an exclusive showing up on Breyer's own website later. We'll have to wait and see what the boxes look like.
