More auction models!

Well, we've only got a week left, people! Actually, probably less than that since people start showing up at the Clarion on the Monday before Breyerfest. Are we all ready for the greatest week of the year? I know I'm not! It's going to be a BUSY weekend for me. We'll be in room 409 at the Clarion as usual, so if you're there, stop by and mention the blog and you'll get a free RR Stablemate (while supplies last).

In other news, we got to see another auction model today! Well, two of them, actually. Behold!

This photo was included in an email I received from Bidspirit today, announcing next week's live benefit auction. A OOAK set on the FAM/FAF? That's practically unheard of in this day and age. They haven't been regular runs since 1997, and last appeared at the Breyerfest auction 30 years ago! Even their last special run appearance was 10 years ago. Sheesh. I guess they were overdue for another appearance! I wonder if they're getting a regular run or special run release soon? I kinda doubt it, but you never know! Hey, maybe they'll be the holiday mare and foal set this year.

Collector Club newsletter and a few more auction models!

More good news, everyone! A few more auction models were revealed today - behold!

It's a pretty leopard appaloosa Marabella! So cute.

We saw most of the other reveals yesterday, except for this stunner:

Whoa! It's safe to say we have our top seller here, but will he break the $75,000 record from 2022? I suspect this one will be disappearing off to Australia, never to be seen again. But I could be wrong. It's cool that they put the wings on him, but I think I prefer this guy from last year. I like the detail of the blue color with gold mapping, though.

In other news, the June Collector Club newsletter came out today! There's an article about drastic customizing, a Big Lex giveaway, an update on the upcoming collector event Hoofbeats and Maple Treats (entries will now open in July), and this sneak peek!

I suspect this is the next Collector Club special run, to be revealed at Breyerfest, but I guess we'll find out soon! Only two weeks until Breyerfest, and I still have to do a lot of prep for the show...eep! Better get to it!

More auction models!

Woohoo, Breyer posted more auction models today! Here they are:

I love this rainbow Misty and Stormy! The mare has gold mapping, which I didn't notice at first, but I don't think the foal does.

Next up is a beautiful buckskin sabino Gem Twist! He doesn't get out much these days, so it's nice to see a new one even if it is an auction model.

Another auction longboi! How dare they. Ugh, I want him so much!

This one is cute! The blog says this one was designed by Kathleen Moody. Not surprising given the other intricate designs she's done for Breyer. Hey Kathleen, can you sculpt something new for us? The ravening hordes hunger for a new Moody sculpt!

Next up is a handsome red bay blanket Sherman Morgan. This mold also doesn't get out much anymore, so it's good to see a new one! I love his rich red color.

Last for today is something sorta unexpected: an auction Cosimo! Some people thought maybe he'd be a raffle model this year, but it looks like that probably won't be the case. He's pretty! Will he be this year's top seller? I think there's a pretty good chance of that happening, but we'll need to see some more auction models to be sure. Bring them on, Breyer!

The first batch of auction models!

Exciting news today, readers - the first batch of auction model photos has been posted on the blog! Behold:

Be still, my heart. I’m sure this one will be out of my price range, but it’s nice to dream. I’m not planning on bidding on any auction models this year, anyway.

Ooh, a handsome black splash (I think?) Wyatt! Nothing I need, though.

Interesting color on this one, but still nothing I need. It kind of reminds me of the roan pinto Stagecoach Surprise, actually.

I’m pretty meh on this one, honestly, but I’ve never been a fan of True North. Needs more white, I think. Or a coat of gloss. This group is sadly lacking in the gloss department.

That’s it for this week - dare I hope we get more auction models this week? I wish they still did the one-model-per-day countdown, though - I feel like it helped build excitement way better.

New Arrivals: The Grand Finale

Well, we've reached the end of the Breyerfest new arrivals for this year. I held this guy back for last, and here he is...Lot 8 in the Breyerfest Live auction, the Shimmer Dapple Silver Grey with Somatic Mutation!

Yes, I spent too much on him, but that's what credit cards are for, so I'm not going to dwell on that topic. He sure is pretty, though - he managed to catch my eye, despite his weird face marking. I'm happy to report that his face doesn't look bloody in person! It's just a somatic mutation. So, if this were a real horse, presumably he would eventually gray out and turn white everywhere except that side of his face. That would be an interesting thing to see! But anyway.

I must not have been paying attention when this model was first revealed, because when I unwrapped the model after paying for him, I was surprised to discover his braids are painted silver and blue, two of my favorite colors. I've complained in the past about them not bothering to paint the braids on other releases using this mane (why have the braids in the mane if you aren't going to paint them?) so it's fitting that this guy does have painted braids. He was meant to live with me! I can't wait to put him in a class at a model horse show. Not that I expect him to do any winning in breed - everyone I talked to about him knew right away what mold I was talking about whenever I mentioned the "noodle legs Andalusian." I still think he would have been pretty great with a coat of gloss, though! Of course, then he probably would have sold for a lot more and I wouldn't have bought him. All's well that ends well, I guess.

Well, that's it for the new Breyerfest arrivals - I didn't buy as much this year, probably because I knew (or at least hoped) I'd be able to take another auction model home. Now I just have to figure out how I'm going to pay off this credit card. In the meantime, Breyerfest Closeups is next on the docket - check back tomorrow for the first one!

Final auction reveals!

Good news, readers! We have the last auction model reveal today. Well, it started to happen yesterday, but the post must have gone up too soon, because it was deleted almost as soon as it was posted. Anyway, here it is today! Potential bidders can now register with BidSpirit to bid on the models, and here's the first model from today's reveal!

It's Bristol in a pretty "Dapple Sooty Palomino." He's nice, but nothing too exciting.

Next is a beautiful light gray pinto Rhiannon! I'm perplexed that there's no foal with her, but she's pretty nonetheless. This model was briefly featured in the preview image for yesterday's deleted post (and then again today), so it's good to see the full reveal. Her slightly-sticking-out lower lip is really visible in this photo and it irks me for some reason! It's the only thing I don't like about the mold.

I skipped the raffle model one since we've already seen him. Next is a beautiful Andalusian Mare/Foal set in rose gray/bay going gray. I love them! But I feel like these auction models are suffering from a distinct lack of gloss...

There it is! Some gloss for this auction! I feel like a few more of the lots should have been glossy too. But this glossy bay overo Totilas is spectacular! Could we be looking at the high-selling lot of the auction? Time will tell, I guess.

Of course, they held back four auction lots to be revealed on Breyerfest Friday, but that's par for the course. Ugh, it's getting so close! Only 10 more days until we're all back in Kentucky for Breyerfest!

Edit: A Blabber posted something from the program that I missed when I initially looked through it. One of the silent auction lots is a test run gold Nemea!

Now why didn’t they make this a micro run for Nemea last year? Maybe the poor guy would have sold better. In any case, I’ll be interested to se what this one sells for!

So many things to post about, I can’t even keep up!

More exciting reveals are happening, people! Breyer showed us some more auction models today - behold, this BEAUTIFUL Wixom!

This girl is absolutely amazing! I love her. I’m low-key wishing I hadn’t sold all my Wixoms, because I want her! Here’s an alternate view from Facebook:

What a beauty! I wonder how much she’ll go for.

Next, we have a beautiful glossy bay Croi:

Finally some gloss! (I can’t remember if any of the previously-shown models were glossy; don’t @ me). She’s pretty too! But not as pretty as that Wixom.

Next, this also-stunning Constantia!

I’m pretty sure that’s Anamar’s paint job. It looks great on Constantia! I think she’s my favorite of the models released so far (that I’d actually want to bid on).

We’ve already seen the Saturday raffle model earlier today, so I’m going to skip to the Carrick!

He’s pretty, but not really grabbing me like some of the others have.

That’s it for the auction models! But the June Collector Club newsletter came out today too! There’s a Breyerfest flashback video, a Jump & Drive giveaway, and this sneak peek!

No idea what it is, but the hint said to think about packing to go somewhere, so it must be the next Exotic Destinations web special! Presumably it’ll be revealed at Breyerfest. Only two weeks to go!

More auction models!

Good news, everyone!  Just when I was starting to think I’d need to get out my stick-poking meme, we have a Breyerfest reveal - more auction models! Behold:

It’s a cute little Quarter Horse Yearling! Nothing I need, but her paint job looks like it has lots of little details.

Next, we have:

A handsome chestnut brindle Dundee! He fits the “Against All Odds” theme pretty well, I have to say. Too bad they didn’t gloss him - if they had, I’d say this guy was a contender for this year’s top seller.

Moving on:

This one is…interesting? He’s described as a gray with a somatic mutation, but it kinda just looks his face look bloody. I like his white tail, though! I feel like this is another missed gloss opportunity.

Lastly, a stunner!

Another one that fits the Against All Odds theme! You know, palomino Arabian…okay, maybe “Fantasy” would be a better category. He’s so pretty, too! Part of me is sad I sold all my Shams.

That’s it for today, though I notice they skipped one of the lots. Presumably either a raffle model or they’re hiding lots again. Also, last year’s car show is coming back to Breyerfest! Hopefully it doesn’t get rained out again this year.

Auction models!

Exciting news today, everyone! We got to see some auction models in today’s post on the Breyerfest blog - behold!

It’s a beautiful glossy bay Morgan! Scrumptious.

And a handsome red dun pinto Criollo with a badger face!

And a Fell Pony that’s basically a mini version of Heath! I want her.

And a stunning peacock-themed Moody Andalusian! I’m trying to figure out if he’s the same one we’ve seen in the archive room live feed. I feel like that one had a more elaborate tail? Can’t remember for sure.

Most importantly, here’s a quote from the blog:

ALL bidders, whether bidding in-person or online, will need to register through BidSpirit. When registering, bidders must fill out all required contact information and include a valid photo ID and credit card number. When you register your card, you will get a text or phone call from Stripe confirming you added your card. You must type in the two-step authentication code to continue. Once registered you will be able to preview the lots online before the auction; however, no pre-bids will be accepted. All bidding must be done live during the Live Auction.

Onsite winners will be required to present payment to the Breyer staff onsite immediately after the lot has been announced “SOLD”. If the winner of a lot is online, the credit card associated with the bidder’s profile will be charged immediately after the lot is announced “SOLD” for the full amount of the lot, including sales tax. Split payments will not be allowed, so please plan accordingly when registering your card. If a card is declined and the bidder cannot be reached within the allotted amount of time to provide an alternate card, the transaction will be voided, and the lot will restart and be resold at the end of the auction - the lot will not automatically go to the next highest bidder. If a card declines that bidder will not be able to continue to bid on future lots.

I like these changes! They should make it harder for people to bid models up into the stratosphere and then back out of paying later. There’s some suspicion that this was being done on purpose so the non-paying bidders could ensure their friends got auction models for a much lower price than they could have gone for. Of course, my preference would be for no online bidding at all, but that ship seems to have sailed, so I’m happy with these changes. Now let’s see some more auction models and the raffle models!

So, how 'bout them auction models...

Well, readers, we're down to just a week before Breyerfest 2023 is upon us! Nothing new has been revealed in the last few days, but in case you missed it - the live auction models have been up for bids for quite a while now. Check them out here. Unsurprisingly, the pegasus Newsworthy has the highest bid so far.

What is surprising is just how high he's been bid so far - $23,000 with more than a week before the auction even starts? Sheesh, someone must really want him.

I personally like this guy a lot, though.

He's already at $4500, so I'm guessing he'll go way higher on Saturday night.

In other news, if you're going to the VIP tour of Hillcroft Farm, we finally got the information about where to meet - 12:45pm Wednesday at the Visitor's Information Center at the KHP. Don't be late, or the bus will leave without you! I'm looking forward to it - only 3 days left until we leave for Kentucky!

FINALLY!

Good news, readers! We finally got something Breyerfest-related today - the reveal of the last few live auction models! Insert grumbling about how there used to be more auction models here. Anyways, here they are! Some of them are still weirdly cropped. There are a few lots still to be revealed, such as (presumably) the raffle models and the live show grand and reserve prizes. But anyway!

That's a Strapless done as a sooty palomino with, well, puzzle-piece dapples. At least that's what they look like to me. Pretty, though!

This one is a wild bay frame overo Lonesome Glory - it's a popular mold, so he'll probably go high. Still, I can't help but wonder what he'd look like in gloss.

This one is a Semi-Rearing Mustang in a grullo tobiano with cat tracks. Cool, but it'd be nice if we could see the whole photo?

Ooh, now these are interesting, even if the mare's face is marked like a giraffe. The mare is a pearly chestnut leopard appaloosa and the foal is a pearly black leopard appaloosa. It'll be interesting to see what these sell for - they're a bit odd-looking, but cute nonetheless.

Ooh, I really like this one, especially the two-toned wings! The blog says he's a glossy metallic blue overo, but he looks like there's some green in the mane, tail and wings. Can't wait to see this one in person so I can get some photos! I wonder if the wings are removable? Usually they are, and it does look like they slot into his back. Someday will we get a more attainable winged release of this guy, since they've done at least one test like this before? I can only hope!

Well, this knocks a few more molds out of contention for the surprise - I'm going to guess it's Goffert at this point, unless he pops up as a raffle model or something. Speaking of raffle models, I can't remember if I've posted my raffle predictions yet, so here goes: Georg and Cancion. Would Breyer use two standing molds in the same year? Who knows, but that's what I'm going with. Guess we'll find out eventually!

In other news, this year's mid-year releases are now available to order on Breyer's website, though the new Strapless won't be shipping until August. I thought about ordering a Mojave, but I'm going to take my chances and hope they have him in the Breyer Store at Breyerfest since that's what I did last year. Here's hoping!

Edit: the rest of the auction models and the raffle models are now posted on the auction website! Check them out here. Looks like I was right about Cancion as a raffle model, but the other one is Fireheart! Gah!

There is a Georg auction model, though:

Along with the German Riding Pony, Carina and Selene, Anamar and the PAM. Notably, there's no Goffert...but also no Hamilton, so the speculation will continue. I'm sticking with Goffert, though! Hamilton is way too popular and doesn't need the surprise boost.

Finally more auction models, and Cancion!

Greetings, readers! Exciting news- we finally get to see some more auction models today! Not sure why the photos are weirdly cropped, but anyways - behold:

It's a "Flaxen Liver Chestnut Frame Overo" on Desatado. Looks chalky, too, so I'm surprised they didn't mention that since they usually do. Nice color!

Ooh, this one I love! He's a "glossy, pearly reverse dapple blue roan" on Vermeer. He's amazing! Interesting that his head isn't solid black like a roan should be, but I love him anyway! I wonder how much he'll sell for.

Next is a "glossy rainbow pintaloosa with holographic harness." I guess it's hard to make the holographic part show up on camera, but dang, it just looks silver to me. Anyway, that's Pollock's colorway underneath the harness - looks pretty good on the Old Timer! He'll probably go pretty high. I like his blue hat, too!

Ooh, this is a really nice color on Bobby Jo (blue roan pintaloosa), and she even has a dark head! Very nice.

Lastly, this is a "silver bay tobiano" on Roy. He's not the most popular mold, but actually looks pretty good in this paintjob.

That's all of the auction models for today. Dare I hope the program is available this week? It was released on June 22 last year, so maybe it'll be released around the same time this year. Only 20 days until we leave! Woohoo!

In other news, Cancion is finally available for purchase!

I'm getting a glossy one, so I'll be putting in my order as soon as I get paid on Friday. Woohoo! I'm glad he isn't as delayed as Zafirah was last year. Let's hope the supply chain is getting back to normal? I've tentatively found a matte one to buy as well, so it'll be fun to see these guys in person. I hope they get here before we leave!

Also, my last set of Breyerfest tickets came, and sure enough - all Jump & Drive and Stagecoach Surprise tickets. So I'll be looking to trade for at least one Scurry ticket! Shouldn't be too hard to find one (I hope).

That's all I have for today - let's hope we get more exciting reveals tomorrow!
