August Collector Club Newsletter!

Greetings, readers! It’s that time of month again - that’s right, it’s time for the Collector Club newsletter! If you’re a CC member, check your email to read it. This month’s feature story is a digitized version of the Jan/Feb 1999 issue of JAH, there’s a Fylkir giveaway, and this sneak peek!

It’s supposed to be revealed in September. My guess is it’s this year’s fall decorator - hopefully we don’t have to wait too long to find out! Like, Monday would be great. Or Tuesday, since Monday is a holiday. Have a good weekend, everyone!

Salzburg and July Collector Club Newsletter!

Great news, everyone! The Salzburg winners list has been drawn! If you entered, check your email to see if you were drawn. I didn't enter for this one, but congrats to all the winners!

In other news, the July Collector Club newsletter was released today! If you're a Collector Club member, check your email to read it.  There's a feature article about Chincoteague Pony portrait models, a Surfer's Riptide giveaway and this sneak peek:

Are we getting a Tootsie Roll Pop-themed model? I'd be okay with that, especially if it came with some Tootsie Roll Pops in the box. Mmm.

On a more serious note...is it something holiday-related? Or space, given the "stellar" clue? I hope we find out soon!

Collector Club newsletter and a few more auction models!

More good news, everyone! A few more auction models were revealed today - behold!

It's a pretty leopard appaloosa Marabella! So cute.

We saw most of the other reveals yesterday, except for this stunner:

Whoa! It's safe to say we have our top seller here, but will he break the $75,000 record from 2022? I suspect this one will be disappearing off to Australia, never to be seen again. But I could be wrong. It's cool that they put the wings on him, but I think I prefer this guy from last year. I like the detail of the blue color with gold mapping, though.

In other news, the June Collector Club newsletter came out today! There's an article about drastic customizing, a Big Lex giveaway, an update on the upcoming collector event Hoofbeats and Maple Treats (entries will now open in July), and this sneak peek!

I suspect this is the next Collector Club special run, to be revealed at Breyerfest, but I guess we'll find out soon! Only two weeks until Breyerfest, and I still have to do a lot of prep for the show...eep! Better get to it!

May Collector Club newsletter!

Good news, readers! It’s that time of the month again - time for the Collector Club newsletter! If you’re a club member, check your email for more details. This month’s feature story covers the history of past collector events, and includes a sneak peek of the ticket model for the upcoming Hoofbeats and Maple Treats collector event!

Another Bristol? He was the ticket model for the Seattle SoirĂ©e in 2020, and is being used for this year’s Breyerfest, but okay then…

Anyway, the newsletter also has a giveaway of a Cloud model to one lucky winner, plus this sneak peek:

Looks like the Classic/Freedom Series rearing mustang, also known as American Dream. There’s some debate over whether his white areas are glowing, which would make him a Halloween release. But it hasn’t been all that long since EEK! was a Halloween model, so it seems odd to use him for that again. Guess we’ll see what it is next month!

April Collector Club Newsletter!

Right on time at the end of the month, it’s time for the April Collector Club newsletter! If you’re a club member, check your email to see if. The feature article is about the Small Poodle mold, there’s a 75th Anniversary giveaway, a link to their latest blog post about Salud (with an aggravating typo - it’s forward, not forwards!) and there’s also this shiny sneak peek!

…Or there would be, if I wasn’t having technical issues. Anyway, it’s something glossy and black. Not sure what it could be, unless it’s another Collector Club special run or something for the Collector Club Appreciation(glossy 75th Anniversary Spanish Horse?). That’s usually in June though, so it would be a bit early if it’s that. It’s also kinda early to be glossing the Spanish Horse, or at least it seems early. Oh well.

Mallorca winners and March CC Newsletter!

Well, readers, the selections for Mallorca are out - and I’m a winner! Woohoo! Now if I can get my husband to pay for it (it’s my birthday next week!) things will be great!

In other news, the March Collector Club Newsletter was released today! If you’re a club member, check your email to read it. The feature article is a full scan of the Sept/Oct 2003 issue of JAH. Hey, I just covered that one not very long ago! Copycats! (I jest…) I admit I do skip some of each issue to keep the blog posts from being too long.

Besides the feature article, there’s also a giveaway of the new AQHA anniversary model, and this sneak peek:

Something spotty, obviously, but other than that, no idea. The pattern looks like something you’d see on a Stablemate, so maybe there are new blind bags coming or something. Hope we find out soon!

February Collector Club newsletter!

Well, it’s the last day of February, and the Collector Club newsletter is here! If you’re a Club member, check your email to read it. There’s a 75th Anniversary article about concept art, a feature article about Breyerwest special runs, a giveaway of a glossy Chardonnay, and this sneak peek!

Well, it has dapples, and it’s probably a buckskin, but other than that, who knows what it is. Probably the next web special - maybe somewhere with sandy beaches, given the color? Hope we don’t have to wait too long to find out!

It's time for another Collector Club newsletter!

Well, it's that time again, folks - time for the January Collector Club newsletter! If you're a Collector Club member, check your email. The feature article is all about the Black Stallion series and Breyer's portrait models of them - huzzah! I was a huge Black Stallion fan as a young, horse-crazy kid. Still am, really - I still have my Black Stallion books. Reading through the article, I'm super-pleased to see them refer to said black stallion properly, as "the Black," rather than "The Black," which I see irritatingly often.

As for the Black Stallion mold itself, I never thought it properly captured the Black's essence - the Classics mold is a lot closer. I suspect Chris Hess took a lot of inspiration from the original cover art for the book when sculpting the Classic, which makes one wonder where (if anywhere) he got his inspiration for the rather lackluster Traditional version. I think the Ruth Sanderson cover art captured the Black best - any of those poses would make great Breyer models. But that's just my opinion.

Anyway, there's also a spotlight on sculptor Chris Hess, a Black Stallion giveaway, and this fuzzy sneak peek:

Must be a new plush for St. Patrick's Day!

In other news, the Breyerfest contests have been announced! Interestingly, the names of the Best Customs Contest prizes are in the official rules - the Traditional is "Szurkol" (which has a few different meanings in Hungarian, including cheering for something, crossing one's fingers, supporting something, etc) and the Stablemate is "SkĂ¥l" (Swedish for "cheers"). Calling it now - Szurkol is a black or chestnut variation of Adonis (NOOOOO!!!!) and SkĂ¥l is some type of Lyric? Hmm, I may need to think that one over a bit more.

December 2024 Collector Club Newsletter and more reveals!

Hark, readers! The December Collector Club Newsletter approaches! If you’re a Collector Club member, check your email for more. There’s a giveaway of a full set of 2023 Premier Club models, a preview of some of Breyer’s offerings for next year (all stuff we’ve seen except for the Western Horse, which we haven’t officially seen yet but was part of the leaks earlier this week), and this sneak peek:

The photo appears to be something mildly scandalous the new Longhorn Bull for 2025, according to Facebook. Speaking of the 2025 releases, word on the street is that Breyer has decreed that they not be released until Jan. 1. So presumably I’ll have a lot of things to talk about that day! Huzzah.

In other news, the gambler’s choice model for the 2025 Stablemates Club has been released! Say hello to Chickadee(s)!

The colors are nice, but I don’t collect the Dungaree mold, so this means I can get away with one Stablemates Club membership for yet another year! It’s a Christmas miracle. I was sure they’d pick something like mini Fireheart or Georg for next year, since they seem to be going all out for the 75th anniversary.

In other other news, another silhouette has been revealed on the Breyerfest Blog!

Yay, the customized G2 Thoroughbred isn’t going to disappear into the ether, never to be seen again! I’m pretty sure this is another Stablemate single-day model. What are they even called now that single-day tickets aren’t a thing anymore? I don’t have my Breyerfest programs handy to check. Anyway, this is another one I’m going to have to pick up, so I’m 2 for 4 so far. Watch the next two turn out to also be things I want, to make up for not wanting any of them in 2024. Well, bring on the reveals!

November Collector Club Newsletter!

Good news, readers and Collector Club members! The 2024 Collector Club newsletter is out in the wild! If you're a Collector Club member, check your email to read it. Firstly, the feature story is "A Closer Look at 2025 Specialty Clubs," which offers, among other things, a turntable video of Winnifred, the first Premier Club release of 2025. Here's the thumbnail:

Ehh...I'm thinking, "Nah," on this one. I like her head from certain angles, but that's about it. The rest of her doesn't really appeal to me, nor does the mealy/pangare coloring. Better luck with the next one, I guess.

Excitingly, there's also a turntable video of Madonna, the PAM/Zara release in the 2025 Stablemates Club! Here's a more-different angle of her:

I'm toying with the idea of keeping her just for the novelty - and really, she's one Stablemate, so it's not like I don't have room for her. I'm somewhat irritated that it turns out she's the "new sculpture" for 2025's club - I thought she was the first release! So we won't even get her for another year. Happily, there's a reveal of another 2025 Stablemates Club model!

Cute! He's almost like a mini version of Churchill, though the whites are different. I was already planning on joining the club, but this guy definitely makes it easier!

That's about it for the feature story, but there's also a giveaway of a Hot Cocoa and this sneak peek:

At first I thought it was something 75th Anniversary related, because of the blue and gold, but then someone pointed out it appears to be some sort of color-shift paint (see the red/purple in the bottom left). So, I have no idea what this is. Hopefully we don't have to wait too long to find out! It's probably the winter decorator web special, but who knows.

September Collector Club newsletter and Antonia!

Wow, I can’t believe it’s already time for another Collector Club newsletter. If you’re a Club member, check your email to see it - there’s an article about airbrushing, a giveaway of the new brick and mortar release (!), and this sneak peek!

The newsletter says to “cozy up for another new release coming to Breyerhorses.com next month,” so my guess is it’s another holiday pony release, possibly with a doll and earmuffs or something. Maybe it’s cocoa-with-marshmallow-themed? Guess we’ll find out soon!

In other news, my Antonia model has arrived! Behold!

What a beauty! I love her.

She’s a really nice color and doesn’t have major flaws, at least none that I noticed.

She does have a few small issues here and there, but I’m still considering taking her to the show tomorrow and seeing how she does…if I can figure out what breed to assign to her. Wish me luck! As I mentioned before, I’ll be at Hard Knox Live in Elizabethtown, KY tomorrow, so stop by and say hi to Geralt and me if you’re there!

When it rains, it pours!

Whew! Yesterday was quite the day for news. Not only was Petra revealed, but this month's Collector Club newsletter was also released! I was at work, so didn't have time to post about it. Better late than never! Anyway, if you're a Collector Club member, check your email to read the newsletter. There's a Breyerfest recap, a Cyrus and Solana giveaway, and this "batty" sneak peek!

Since we've obviously already seen the Traditional Halloween model (Beowulf), this must be the Halloween Classic! Can't wait to see what it is! I'm thinking this guy, if only because then I wouldn't have to buy it. Guess we'll find out in August!

So many things to post about, I can’t even keep up!

More exciting reveals are happening, people! Breyer showed us some more auction models today - behold, this BEAUTIFUL Wixom!

This girl is absolutely amazing! I love her. I’m low-key wishing I hadn’t sold all my Wixoms, because I want her! Here’s an alternate view from Facebook:

What a beauty! I wonder how much she’ll go for.

Next, we have a beautiful glossy bay Croi:

Finally some gloss! (I can’t remember if any of the previously-shown models were glossy; don’t @ me). She’s pretty too! But not as pretty as that Wixom.

Next, this also-stunning Constantia!

I’m pretty sure that’s Anamar’s paint job. It looks great on Constantia! I think she’s my favorite of the models released so far (that I’d actually want to bid on).

We’ve already seen the Saturday raffle model earlier today, so I’m going to skip to the Carrick!

He’s pretty, but not really grabbing me like some of the others have.

That’s it for the auction models! But the June Collector Club newsletter came out today too! There’s a Breyerfest flashback video, a Jump & Drive giveaway, and this sneak peek!

No idea what it is, but the hint said to think about packing to go somewhere, so it must be the next Exotic Destinations web special! Presumably it’ll be revealed at Breyerfest. Only two weeks to go!

May Collector Club newsletter!

Good news, readers! We have our May Collector Club newsletter! There’s an article about the recent Spokes and Spurs collector event, a new exclusive workshop, a Gilded giveaway and this sneak peek!

Unfortunately, there’s not much to glean from this image - maybe some of our sleuths will figure it out later, but I don’t have any guesses right now.

April Collector Club newsletter is here!

Exciting news, readers - the April Collector Club newsletter is out in the wild! Check your email inbox for more. There’s an article about bloaties (I have to wonder if there’s a back story behind that bloated Celebration), a Chadwick giveaway, and this sneak peek:

What could it be? The next Destinations web special? Something in black pinto obviously, but it’s impossible to tell what it could be. Guess we’ll find out in a few weeks!

March Collector Club newsletter!

Good news, everyone - the March Collector Club newsletter is in inboxes now! Check your email if you're a Collector Club member. They seem to have taken a leaf out of my book with this issue by fully digitizing a 1980 issue of Just About Horses from the newsletter (probably a coincidence; I doubt they know about or read this blog). There's also a Marcia Bey giveaway and this sneak peek:

I have no idea what this is, except it's Breyer colors. Is it the spring decorator? They had been going with a vague (or not-so-vague) patriotic theme, but this one clearly isn't patriotic. There were some rumblings about an April Fool's joke, and it's possible it's that - but the newsletter says it's something arriving in April. Don't they usually just post the April Fool's joke on Facebook instead of teasing it first? I can't remember. Also not seeing many guesses as to the mold, not that it's really possible to tell. Guess we'll find out in April!

Wild Things and January Collector Club Newsletter!

Another exciting reveal today - the online-only Stablemate for Breyerfest! Behold, Wild Things:

It's a pretty color on Charleston, but nothing I need. They increased the quantity to 3,000 this year, also - which I suspect they'll regret later. A big part of the reason Buggy sold out last year was because Django's popularity is red-hot - Charleston, not so much. But I guess we'll see when Breyerfest rolls around!

The blog post says this is the penultimate Breyerfest reveal, so we're only getting one more reveal - or are we? We haven't seen the plush or the decorator special run, so that would be two. But the blog says it's the final Breyerfest Limited Edition model reveal," so the plush could still be coming. In the meantime, there's another sneak peek happening tomorrow (why aren't they just doing the reveal instead, since tickets go on sale Feb. 1). So we'll have to check back tomorrow!

In other news, this month's Collector Club newsletter also arrived today! If you're a member, check your email for more. There's an informative article about web special themes, photo show results, a giveaway of a Goji model, and this...rather meh sneak peek:

A St. Patrick's Day plush? Cool, I guess, but I was hoping for a model sneak peek. Maybe next month!

Oh, deer!

Well, after a bit of a Thanksgiving hiatus, Breyer is back in black (or, well, piebald) with this new web special - behold!

From the website:

White-tailed deer can be found from Canada to South America. Highly adaptable, they make themselves at home in the forest, meadow, and even the suburbs. Garret is a mature white-tailed buck. He sports unique coloring called piebald, which is similar to pinto markings in horses. His shaded brown coat is accented by white markings, which is a recessive trait not commonly seen in the wild. Piebald white-tails can vary in appearance, with some appearing almost completely white, while others may just have a few patches. Some studies estimate that only 1 in 1,000 deer will be born piebald, making this fellow a rare and beautiful sight!

He's interesting, but nothing I need. I wonder if a matching doe and fawn will come out later? 1,000 seems like a pretty large run size, almost too big - but last year's disco ram seems to have sold well (edit: fewer of those were made than I remember - oh well), so who knows.

We also have this month's Collector Club newsletter! If you're a club member, check your email inbox for more. There's an article about eco-friendly packing material, a giveaway and of course a new sneak peek:

Something sparkly and red - perhaps part of a shoulder? No idea what mold it is, or what release this could be. They don't do sneak peeks of the Christmas morning release, so it probably isn't that. Maybe it's a surprise special run for Winterfest, to be revealed tomorrow? I hope so!

October Collector Club Newsletter!

Greetings, readers! Well, it's another fall day here in Kentucky, and this month's Collector Club Newsletter is here! If you're a Collector Club member, check your email to read it. This month's feature story is a show report from Ponypallooza Germany, and there's also a link to the various replays of Fun Day activities if you missed those. The October giveaway is a palomino Ideal Quarter Horse, and the newsletter closes with this tantalizing hint!

I had no opinion one way or the other as to what this is, but the prevailing opinion on the Internets is that this is Totilas. Looks like the Benasque colorway is making another return! I hope we don't have to wait too long to see what this is. The newsletter also says we're getting a 2024 Vintage Club sneak peek "soon," so hopefully we don't have to wait too long for that either!

September Collector Club Newsletter!

Good news, readers! The September Collector Club newsletter is here! If you're a Collector Club member, check your email for more. Interestingly, the feature story covers an old Breyer promotional video called "The World of Breyer Horses", which was actually quite informative in the glimpse it gives of the model production process. It's from 1988, so a bit dated, but still worth watching. Aside from the video, the newsletter also features a Halloween-themed giveaway and a new sneak peek!

Looks pretty! I don't know what it could be, other than something on an older mold, judging by the textured surface. I guess we'll find out soon!
