Wild Things and January Collector Club Newsletter!

Another exciting reveal today - the online-only Stablemate for Breyerfest! Behold, Wild Things:

It's a pretty color on Charleston, but nothing I need. They increased the quantity to 3,000 this year, also - which I suspect they'll regret later. A big part of the reason Buggy sold out last year was because Django's popularity is red-hot - Charleston, not so much. But I guess we'll see when Breyerfest rolls around!

The blog post says this is the penultimate Breyerfest reveal, so we're only getting one more reveal - or are we? We haven't seen the plush or the decorator special run, so that would be two. But the blog says it's the final Breyerfest Limited Edition model reveal," so the plush could still be coming. In the meantime, there's another sneak peek happening tomorrow (why aren't they just doing the reveal instead, since tickets go on sale Feb. 1). So we'll have to check back tomorrow!

In other news, this month's Collector Club newsletter also arrived today! If you're a member, check your email for more. There's an informative article about web special themes, photo show results, a giveaway of a Goji model, and this...rather meh sneak peek:

A St. Patrick's Day plush? Cool, I guess, but I was hoping for a model sneak peek. Maybe next month!

Halloween horses are here!

More good news, readers! My first order of Halloween models came! Behold, my Slither!

What a beauty. And he definitely has a green tint from the right angle, despite looking browner/purplish in the photos.

I really like this design! Clearly quagga-inspired, but also the snakes! He has one snake on his back and a cobra on his forehead.

Ooh, scary.

He almost looks black in this photo. I love him! Didn't see too many flaws, either.

Next, let's take a look at my two blind bags:

Yep, just the two I didn't want. Sigh.

They're pretty good in the quality department, though! Very detailed stencil on the mini Nevermore. I have two more blind bags coming tomorrow, so hopefully I can do a trade if I still don't get what I want. I hadn't realized the mini Cornelius was glossy, either. Doesn't make me want to keep him any more, but it is a cool effect. His teeth are a little too blindingly-white to be realistic, though! Hahaha, that was a joke.

Well, here's hoping I get a mini Apparition tomorrow!

Let this Halloween release sssssslither into your hearts!

More good news, everyone! Today the U-Haul truck was unloaded (with some casualties, including a Christmas tree with almost an entire bottle of bleach spilled on it), and unpacking has begun! I'm a bit scared to unpack my horses, what with the casualties we've already had - but at the same time I'm excited to get to it, because I want to add my Breyerfest purchases to the herd! Anyway, I've also found the time to get my computer set up, so I should be able to get back to posting with my usual frequency. Also, I'm now in the Eastern time zone! Woohoo!

Anyway, Breyer's Halloween store was announced today, including this beauty!

From the website:

Uncoiling and slipping his way out of the darkness on All Hallows’ Eve is Slither, our 2023 Freedom Series Halloween Horse. Artist Christine Jordan dreamed up a truly unique coat for this reptilian decorator. Slither features markings inspired by the quagga, a now-extinct species of zebra that had stripes only on the front half of their bodies, paired with scales and hidden snakes slithering through his mane and markings. His metallic glossy coat features green-bronze color shift paint that mirrors the sheen of a snake’s scales.

Ooh, I really want this one! He looks really cool.  I love how glossy he is. And I really like his white tail! His white areas glow in the dark (naturally) so I'm excited to see what he looks like in the dark!

Also, we get this:

Cute! I love his little fangs. Too bad he doesn't have a couple of little blood drops around his mouth, too.

And lastly, the Halloween Stablemates for this year:

So this year we get Mini Nevermore, Mini Poltergeist and Mini Cornelius! Cute! D'oh, another addition to the Django conga! Of course, they're blind bags as per usual, so I'm going to have to think about whether I'll buy more than one. I'd probably just get one, but I have to have that Django and I'm not interested in paying $100 for it later, so...guess we'll have to see how I feel when the sale goes live. Speaking of which, the Halloween store goes live on Wednesday at 1:30 EST, so be ready, everyone! I'm sure the Classic and the Stablemates will both sell out pretty quickly, so be ready with ordering! Looks like last year's Tabitha and Skelly must not have sold out, because those are back this year as well. There's also a cute Spectre pin and Spectre-themed hoodies, so I'll definitely have to pick up that pin. I hope everyone is able to get what they're looking for!

More Breyerfest stuff and the next Stablemates Club model!

We have another Breyerfest silent auction reveal! Take a look:

The original Halla was given a modern update for this release. This is noteworthy because the original Halla mold was destroyed when it was altered to become Bolya back in the early '90s. So, they do still have some remaining whiteware from that mold!

It was announced today that virtual Breyerfest attendees will be able to purchase special run models after all - they must really not have sold as many tickets as they thought. Virtual attendees will only be able to purchase one model rather than two (and I'm not sure if that's one model per virtual ticket or one model per account). I guess we'll find out more about that later...

And in other news, the third Stablemates Club release of the year, Shelburne, is now available for purchase!

So far I'm 0/3 for SMC releases I actually want to keep this year. At least I managed to sell mine already, unlike poor Phineas. Hopefully I can unload that one at Breyerfest, which is (gulp) only a month away! When did that happen? I'm getting more excited by the day! Hey, they should start releasing auction models soon, right? Well, let's hope so, anyway.

That's gonna be a no from me, dawg.

Merry Christmas, readers! Well, this year's holiday surprise has come and gone, selling out in 15 minutes or less (I was a bit surprised by that) - say hello to Spice Drop!

Though, maybe they should be called the Spice Girls instead? Food for thought. Croi isn't my bag, so I didn't buy any of these, though the blue and silver one isn't too bad. Or the purple and silver. They should have gone with silver for the red and green ones, too. That red and gold is an eye-burning combination - I guess I'm just partial to silver. Anyways, despite being a run of 2025, these girls sold out way faster than I thought they would. Once again, there's going to be a "Coal" variant, with 12 glossy black Spice Drops randomly shipped to lucky buyers. It remains to be seen whether the black Spice Drop is in fact another Croi, or something on a different mold like last year.

In other news, we also got another Stablemates Club reveal today!

It's the Charleston! His name is Shelburne. Which means...the Lyric is most likely next year's gambler's choice release for the club. Sigh. I may just join on the one account and try to get the Lyrics secondhand later. He's not that popular of a mold, right? Right? Blargh.

Anyway, presumably they'll do a reveal of the Lyric gambler's choice next week, so I can use that time to decide whether I want more than one account next year or not. If so, it's going to involve a lot of reselling, and I'm not sure I'm interested in bothering with that anymore. I guess we'll see!

2022 Stablemates Club molds!

Good news, everyone! We now have the silhouettes of all the releases in the 2022 Stablemates Club! Well, minus the new mold and the optional release. Anyway, behold!

From left to right, that's the G1 Draft, Charleston, Lyric and Prince Charming. Whew! None of those are anything I'm interested in except the Lyric, and with any luck he won't be the gambler's choice release. I may not even need to bother to join the club next year! It'd be nice to not have a bunch of stuff I need to resell for once. I don't think it'll be too difficult to find someone selling the Lyric and whatever the new mold is (if I even want it) secondhand next year.

I haven't rejoined the SMC or the PC yet this year - I like to wait until I see the whites of their eyes, as it were, and try to encourage them to show us more of what we're signing up for before I join. They did show us the Croi gamblers before the end of the year last year, so I'm confident we'll eventually see all of these before signups close. I'm excited to see what color that Lyric is, though!

Blanca, and Slyder!

Wow, we already have our Breyerfest reveal - say hello to Blanca!

I must say, Charleston does look mighty handsome in black. I do still have mine languishing on my shelf, where he ended up after various attempts to sell him came up with nothing. He's kept company by the Skye that came with my Single-Day Breyerfest Stablemates from last year. Anyway, Blanca will be awarded to the runners-up in the Best Customs Contest, so needless to say, one of them won't end up in my house by accident. But on to our next reveal, Slyder!

This is the release that was teased in the Collector Club newsletter at the end of last month, and a lot of people were right - it's the Classic Hollywood Dun It! I've been waiting for this release to come out from pure curiosity about what colors they were going to use - I had no plans to buy any of them, which is good because they were sold out by the time I saw the email about them. That gray is pretty, though! He looks like an old-school smoke colorway. Nice! And I'm intrigued that all three of them are glossy - usually they leave one matte, but not this time. I wonder if more will come in stock later? I still don't plan on buying any, but it seemed like they sold out REALLY fast this time. Good luck if they come back in stock!

Another sneak peek!

Greetings, readers - there's another sneak peek on the Breyerfest Blog

The general consensus is that it's Charleston in black and it's the Stablemate runner-up prize in the Best Customs Contest, which would pair well with the reveal of Noir last week. I guess we'll find out later this week!

Say hello to Skye!

I almost forgot to post about this - we've had another single-day Stablemate reveal! Meet Skye:

From the blog:

Dressed up in a luscious silver black and a high-gloss finish, his unique color is due to the silver gene over a black base coat, which lightens the mane and tail to a near flaxen color and turns the body a rich chocolate instead of pure black.

Ooh, he's pretty! Almost pretty enough to make me want to keep my Charleston and add him to the collection...but that neck still looks weird to me. He's tempting, though! So this means we'll probably see the mini Croi tomorrow - I bet she's amazing!

There's also a new sneak peek in the April collector club newsletter (great job on mailing that while still technically in the month of April, guys):

It says we'll find out what this is in a few weeks, so I'm guessing it's the next Premier Club release. I'm not sure they'd do two Appaloosa-patterned Berries Ponies in a row, and that's the only other thing I can think of that it would be. Guess we'll find out eventually!

Breyerfest Single-Day Ticket Update!

There's another update on the Breyerfest blog, addressing the Single-Day Tickets! Important takeaways: the tickets will be available in singles or packs of 4. If you order less than 4 tickets, the Stablemate you receive will be randomly-shipped. You have to order 4 to get all 4 Stablemates. So, par for the course. Most importantly, they gave us the silhouettes!

Ooh, it's Greyson, a mini Croi (!!), Charleston and...the G2 Clydesdale. Yawn...seems kind of random to have a 22-year-old mold in there with all the new ones, but whatevs. I hope he's a yummy color! More importantly, does this rule out Croi as the surprise? Unfortunately, I think it does...which sends us back to the drawing board. For a backup guess, I'm going to go with Idocus in a variety of hairstyles and colors. As for the Stablemates, I'll only need the Greyson and the G2 Clyde, so it'll be worth it for me to try to get the 4-pack - I don't anticipate having any trouble selling the Mini Croi and the Charleston afterward. Can't wait to see what colors they are!

Carter and Charleston are here!

This is kinda old news, since they've been here a while - but my Carter and Charleston models have arrived! I'll start with Carter!

He's definitely a pretty boy! He makes a good match for the rose gray Hero's Welcome, though I never got around to photographing them together.

His dapples definitely could have been more subtle though, especially on the belly.

He sure is handsome, though! Can't wait to see what Breyer does next with the mold.

Quality-wise, he's pretty nice - I don't remember seeing much of anything wrong with him other than the less-than-subtle dapples. I've seen some complaining online about the amount of pearly in his finish, but I'm a sucker for pearly, so that doesn't bother me at all.

Next, here's Charleston!

I didn't get many photos of this one - I'm still pretty meh about him. It's like his neck is too short, or so arched it looks like it's broken, or something. Add that to the tail's resemblance to the G2 Paso Fino and he's just not something that needs to stick around.

I feel like his eyes were decently well-detailed, though - too bad my photo isn't good enough to show it. Oh well!

That's all I've got for today - tune in again soon to see Klaus!

Premier Club and Vintage Club Stablemates are finally arriving!

Check your mailboxes, everyone - the free Stablemates from the 2019 Premier and Vintage Clubs are finally arriving! As a reminder, the Premier Club Stablemate is Charleston, the mini Hamilton, and the Vintage Club set is Misty and Stormy on the G1 Quarter Horse Mare and G3 Standing Foal. I hope my Charleston gets here soon - I've arranged to trade him for the Vintage Club set, so I want to get the ball rolling on that as soon as possible!
