More Spooky Stablemates!

Good news, everyone! My second Spooky Stablemates order arrived - behold the results!

Score! I got the mini Apparition, the only one of the three I wanted!

And another Cornelius! I do like the little guy, but don't need two or them, or one of them. I'll figure out what to do with them later.

What a handsome guy. I don't have the full-size version of him, so it took a minute to realize exactly what the markings were supposed to look like. Looks like they did a pretty good job miniaturizing the design.

They were both pretty good quality as well, no major flaws that I noticed. I hope everybody else managed to get what they wanted as well, or is able to trade for what they want.

In other news, my Traditional and Classics models are now all unpacked (except my Breyerfest purchases), though not all are on the shelves, because I ran out of shelf space (again) despite my husband building two new shelves. Fortunately, there's room for another shelf in the room, so we'll have to get that taken care of this weekend. I haven't unpacked any Stablemates yet because I want to wait until I have all the bigger models arranged on the shelves the way I want before I start putting Stablemates up there. But I like the way things are looking so far! It's good to see the models I bought over the past year on the shelves with their buddies, though. So I'm excited to get that last shelf built so I can finish unpacking and also get my Breyerfest purchases unpacked! I'm looking forward to seeing all those Stagecoach Surprise models with the rest of my Hamiltons!

Halloween horses are here!

More good news, readers! My first order of Halloween models came! Behold, my Slither!

What a beauty. And he definitely has a green tint from the right angle, despite looking browner/purplish in the photos.

I really like this design! Clearly quagga-inspired, but also the snakes! He has one snake on his back and a cobra on his forehead.

Ooh, scary.

He almost looks black in this photo. I love him! Didn't see too many flaws, either.

Next, let's take a look at my two blind bags:

Yep, just the two I didn't want. Sigh.

They're pretty good in the quality department, though! Very detailed stencil on the mini Nevermore. I have two more blind bags coming tomorrow, so hopefully I can do a trade if I still don't get what I want. I hadn't realized the mini Cornelius was glossy, either. Doesn't make me want to keep him any more, but it is a cool effect. His teeth are a little too blindingly-white to be realistic, though! Hahaha, that was a joke.

Well, here's hoping I get a mini Apparition tomorrow!

Let this Halloween release sssssslither into your hearts!

More good news, everyone! Today the U-Haul truck was unloaded (with some casualties, including a Christmas tree with almost an entire bottle of bleach spilled on it), and unpacking has begun! I'm a bit scared to unpack my horses, what with the casualties we've already had - but at the same time I'm excited to get to it, because I want to add my Breyerfest purchases to the herd! Anyway, I've also found the time to get my computer set up, so I should be able to get back to posting with my usual frequency. Also, I'm now in the Eastern time zone! Woohoo!

Anyway, Breyer's Halloween store was announced today, including this beauty!

From the website:

Uncoiling and slipping his way out of the darkness on All Hallows’ Eve is Slither, our 2023 Freedom Series Halloween Horse. Artist Christine Jordan dreamed up a truly unique coat for this reptilian decorator. Slither features markings inspired by the quagga, a now-extinct species of zebra that had stripes only on the front half of their bodies, paired with scales and hidden snakes slithering through his mane and markings. His metallic glossy coat features green-bronze color shift paint that mirrors the sheen of a snake’s scales.

Ooh, I really want this one! He looks really cool.  I love how glossy he is. And I really like his white tail! His white areas glow in the dark (naturally) so I'm excited to see what he looks like in the dark!

Also, we get this:

Cute! I love his little fangs. Too bad he doesn't have a couple of little blood drops around his mouth, too.

And lastly, the Halloween Stablemates for this year:

So this year we get Mini Nevermore, Mini Poltergeist and Mini Cornelius! Cute! D'oh, another addition to the Django conga! Of course, they're blind bags as per usual, so I'm going to have to think about whether I'll buy more than one. I'd probably just get one, but I have to have that Django and I'm not interested in paying $100 for it later, so...guess we'll have to see how I feel when the sale goes live. Speaking of which, the Halloween store goes live on Wednesday at 1:30 EST, so be ready, everyone! I'm sure the Classic and the Stablemates will both sell out pretty quickly, so be ready with ordering! Looks like last year's Tabitha and Skelly must not have sold out, because those are back this year as well. There's also a cute Spectre pin and Spectre-themed hoodies, so I'll definitely have to pick up that pin. I hope everyone is able to get what they're looking for!

Finn and Grace are here!

Good news, everyone! My Finn and Grace models are finally here, and I have photos to share! I'll start with Finn - behold!

No, I didn't get the rainbow, sadly. So this guy will be for sale. As a reminder, he's a mini-me of Lucy, and I think he matches her fairly well. His spots are smaller than hers and he doesn't have the molded-on halter, but otherwise he's a good match.

Although all of the Finns I've seen photos of look pretty nice, I wish the teeth had been executed a little better. They look like someone just slapped some white paint on there, and what equid has such perfectly white teeth, anyway? They'd look a little less weird if they were more of an ivory/slightly yellowed shade, but then I guess people would probably complain about it.

Other than the weird teeth, my Finn looks to be in pretty good shape, and since I don't collect the G2 Mule, he'll be for sale soon. On to Grace!

I got the dapple gray - my favorite of the three! Yay!

She's pretty flawless, too - I didn't see anything wrong with her, except for a slightly bent left eartip (which is common with these girls).

Dapple gray is my favorite real-life horse color, so it's not surprising that I liked this color best of the three. I'll be on the lookout for the other two, though. Hopefully the prices go down eventually...

As for her sticker, I'm not much for leaving those on (and it was already starting to come off), so I stuck it on her COA. I doubt she'll ever be for sale, and even if I did eventually sell her, I doubt any potential buyer would be terribly concerned about it either. As long as I still have it, right?

All in all, I'm very happy with my Grace - I just wish I hadn't lost so much money selling the previous two releases in the club. I'm really hoping next year's club either has more releases I want (not likely), or it doesn't have any modern molds at all (somewhat likely). Here's hoping!

As for next year's club, I did get a sneak peek of one of the releases with my Grace. Check it out!

Drat! I think I predicted the Pacer for the 2017 club, but I didn't stick with him for later years for some reason. Oh well! That's a beautiful color on him, but the mold isn't for me, sadly. Well, that's one Vintage Club 2019 release I don't need to worry about buying - hopefully we get to see the rest of them soon. Now, you'll have to excuse me while I go listen to the Rockford Files theme song.

Finn is now available!

At long last, this year's Stablemate Club Gambler's Choice model is finally available! Take a look at the Finns!

I'm a little sad that they picked this mold - I was never that into the G2 Mule and sold off the few examples I had last year. I do like those colors, though - the appaloosa is a Lucy mini-me, the sorrel is Brown Sunshine (or very similar to him), the rainbow is Prism, and the pinto is similar to Oliver.

I'm hoping I get the rainbow one - if I did I might just keep it, despite not having any other G2 mules. I just have a huge weakness for rainbow anything! My chances are pretty slim, though - I only have one account in the club this year, so I only have a 1/4 chance of getting him. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Unfortunately, it might be a while before I get mine - I'm going to hold off on ordering for a while and see if the Vintage Club Weather Girl pops up soon since she's way overdue. Hopefully she gets released soon and then I can bundle up on shipping.

Good luck to Stablemate Club members! I hope you get the colors you want!

Oodles of mules!

Not that it matters now, since memberships are now closed (Happy New Year!), but the mule release in this year's Stablemate Club was revealed on Saturday! Well - make that mules, as it's the gambler's choice, Finn! Here they are:

The G2 mule never really appealed to me much; although I technically collected it, the only two I ever had in my collection were the original 1998 JAH release and the appaloosa from a JC Penney set - and I sold both of those at Breyerfest last year. I do like these colors, though - as others have observed, they appear to be mini-me versions of Lucy, Oliver, Brown Sunshine and this test model.

So, whichever mule I get from my sole membership this year will most likely be for sale - unless I get the rainbow one. My weakness for rainbow anything is well-documented, and I can't guarantee I'd sell that one...right away. We'll just have to see what happens!
