Breyer Halloween Sweepstakes, and other stuff

All right, this one is kind of old news, but I had some technical difficulties writing it and then forgot about it, so here it is anyway. Anyway, Breyer is doing a sweepstakes for Halloween! From the email:

It’s almost time for trick or treating, so we've decided to get in on the action! Except we have no tricks… only treats for three lucky winners!

We are offering the chance to win one of three exciting Halloween-themed prize packs that include Maelstrom, Apparition, Ratsputin, and a full set of Spooky Surprise Blind Bags!*

I'm not going to enter since most of that is stuff I don't want, but Maelstrom looks cool with water drops all over him.

In other news, more new stuff is showing up on the Breyer website, including 75th anniversary merch! Behold the enamel pin!

Naturally, they're using the Western Horse silhouette for the pin. I wonder if they'll do another anniversary release on him? Guess we'll find out in a few months. I've seen some criticism of the 75th anniversary logo and the weird cut-off 5, but other astute people have pointed out that the cuts on the letters make the logo look more like a diamond, so I'm cool with it. There are also horse blankets, jackets, mugs, other new pins, etc. Definitely a few things I'll throw in my cart if they do another CCA event with glossies I need.

Lastly, we may have a reveal of the next (last?) Orren Mixer model. Behold!

It's Geronimo in a handsome buckskin color! Apparently dealers were told the last release would be a buckskin, so it's likely that this is the next Orren Mixer. It could just be a test modeling a saddle/bridle though - Breyer has been known to do that before. This is from this year's holiday catalog, or so I've heard, so keep an eye out for that in your mailbox!

Lastly, the 2024 Breyer Retired List is out! Read it here and breathe a sigh of relief that Marc of Charm was never used as a glossy prize model at Breyerfest. I’m excited to see what new products we’re getting next year!

Pride giveaway!

Good news, everyone! Well, it’s not quite as good as last year’s Pollock giveaway, but Breyer is giving away three Jewels models (plus matching pins/notebooks) in celebration of Pride month! Enter here. Good luck, everyone!

April Collector Club newsletter is here!

Exciting news, readers - the April Collector Club newsletter is out in the wild! Check your email inbox for more. There’s an article about bloaties (I have to wonder if there’s a back story behind that bloated Celebration), a Chadwick giveaway, and this sneak peek:

What could it be? The next Destinations web special? Something in black pinto obviously, but it’s impossible to tell what it could be. Guess we’ll find out in a few weeks!

Leap Day sweepstakes and more!

Hark, readers! It's me, posting on Leap Day 2024, a most auspicious date! For Breyer hath decreed that a sweepstakes will be held, in honor of Leap Day! Huzzah!

Sorry, I just felt like being overly dramatic. Anyway, here's the items you can win!

Three lucky winners will receive a Get Rowdy, Queen of Hearts and Clooney 51! What a fun little giveaway for Leap Day. This is only the second Leap Day that's occurred since I started this blog, and for whatever reason I didn't acknowledge the last one - oh well. There will be three winners, so good luck to everyone entering! Sunday is the deadline to enter, so don't forget about it. This would all just be sales fodder for me, so I'm not going to enter.

There's also a new plush coming for Easter! Say hello to April:

The carroty ears are so cute! I like the ribbons, too. Nothing I need to buy, but these plushies are always so cute!

Lastly, the VIP workshops for Breyerfest 2024 have been revealed! Check them out here

Happy last day of February, everyone! I can't believe it's already going to be March tomorrow.

New Arrivals, 2024 PC photos and more!

Greetings, readers! Well, my Clooney 51 and Cody's Wish models finally arrived, so I thought I'd post a few photos! I'll start with Clooney 51:

What a handsome guy. Normally I'm not that into fleabitten gray as a color, unless they look more like this:

But I can make an exception for Clooney! I especially like his white socks on the rear legs.

I would have preferred this was the loose mane version of the mold, but at least his tail is loose - I'm really not into the braided tail for this guy for some reason.

Next, here's Cody's Wish!

He's not this light in real life - must be something with the lighting and the camera.

He looks pretty good - I think Breyer did a pretty good job matching his color and markings. Now I just need to book a tour to see the real Cody's Wish! And cross my fingers that they don't end up using him for a CCA event or Breyerfest prize or something!

Next, we have some new photos of next year's Premier Club mare and foal set!

Unfortunately, I'm starting to like them a little better in these photos (and I'm really noticing how the mare is basically an updated Running Mare).

I really like the mare from this angle! Gah. Rant incoming - feel free to scroll past it if you're not into that.

It's looking increasingly likely that these are NOT the first release in the club, or Breyer wouldn't keep saying they were "among" next year's releases. I haven't joined next year's club yet, and frankly I don't want to join if it means I have to wait until next May to see what the first release is! We could end up waiting a full year for this mare and foal set if it turns out they're the last release, and I don't want to wait six months to see what I'll be buying first. Sorry if this reads like I'm throwing a tantrum, but sheesh. Throw us a freaking bone already! And give us some 2024 Stablemates Club previews while you're at it! I won't bother asking about the 2024 new releases, since we'll probably be waiting until after Christmas for those again.

Bleh, enough complaining. Lastly for today, there's a new giveaway to enter for!

There's no indication of whether it's open to Collector Club members or the general public, so I'm going to assume it's the general public. I did enter for this one, since I haven't found anyone to trade my purple one for a green yet. Good luck to everyone entering!

So many things to post about today!

Lots of exciting things to write about today, folks! I'll start off with the Collector Club Appreciation event! It went live at pretty much exactly 1pm EST today and doesn't seem to have sold out yet (or at least I haven't seen any posts about it selling out). Maybe the days of things selling out in 15 mins are a thing of the past? Let's hope so. Anyway, here's a pic of our four glossies! Drat, I need all four this time...

In the meantime, I did get two orders of merch in, and then decided to do a third order of just the glossy in hopes it'll go through like it did last year. I only have so much extra space for stuff I don't want. But anyways. I really wish backordered stuff was included with this, because I would have gotten a Sweetwater Zorah Belle if she wasn't backordered. Other than that, I ordered the new Carltonlima Emma, the Classic/Freedom Series palomino Mason, the gray pinto Stablemate Rearing Andalusian that was new for this year, the new Poetry in Motion gift set, the Horse Foal Surprise Family 13 since I don't have the Cantering Warmblood from that set, and a Get Rowdy to hopefully resell without too much trouble. Not bad! In my second order I got Adamek, Marc of Charm (shouldn't be too hard to resell those), a set of pony pouches (everyone needs some of those), and a T-shirt. I thought about getting more apparel, but I don't really wear T-shirts much anymore, I don't like the style of hoodie they sell and I don't really use much of the other apparel, so that was it for that order.

So, I'm hoping to get a decent selection of glossies from those three orders (or trade for them) and then just buy the fourth one. Kinda hoping that fourth one I buy ends up being the Sjoerd, since he doesn't seem too popular. But we'll have to see! I'm really excited about Morganquest Native Sun and hoping I get one! He'll be pretty in glossy.

In other news, now that it's Pride month, Breyer is doing a giveaway!

3 lucky winners will receive a Pollock model! I'm not going to enter since I already have one, but good luck to everybody!

Lastly, the sneak peek from Tuesday has been revealed! It's the Breyerfest Live overall grand prize!

So I was wrong about it being Georg - it's actually Roxy! Nice. Nothing I need, but she sure is pretty! Good luck to everyone trying to get her.

I wonder if the glossy prize models will be announced this week too? One can only hope!

Attack of the Deranged Mutant Killer Monster Snow Goons, and other stories

More good news, everyone! Amongst other things, I had a pretty good mail day today - behold! First off, my Neva showed up:

What a beauty!

Quality-wise, though...he's really kind of a mess. It's almost laughable - weird textures in the finish by his elbow, globs of plastic and/or paint in random places, bubbles in the gloss, poorly-applied masking, really bad overspray on the mane...the list goes on and on. And these guys are sold out, so I can't even ask for a replacement. However, the funny thing is...the snowmen:

I'm getting major Deranged Mutant Killer Monster Snow Goon vibes from these snowmen.

Now, I love derpy stuff like this (I'm not a Barbie collector, but I do have two Barbie Christmas tree ornaments because one of them has a doofy face and the other one looks like she wants to eat your face), so I'm happy to add them to the collection. So yeah, if I was ever to decide to start showing (not likely), and if I could find a class to put this guy in (also not likely) his show name would definitely be Snow Goon.

Now then, on to the next new arrivals. I was expecting Snow Goon up there to come today, but what I wasn't expecting...was two of my Poppy & Ollie sets! Huzzah! Behold the first one I opened!

Fortunately, their quality was much better than Snow Goon. Though I have to say...normally I like alabaster, especially glossy alabaster, but I'm just not feeling it with this set. It's not so bad in the photo, but that yellowish cast Breyer added to make them look "perlino" mostly just makes them look like they sat in a smoker's house for way too long. So this is probably my least favorite color of the three.

At least the quality was good! And I got two different colors - behold my next set!

Woohoo, the palominos! This color is easily my favorite of the three, despite there not being anything vintage about it at all. They're just gorgeous.

The quality on this pair is mostly okay, but I really wasn't impressed with the mane masking job on the mare:

They pretty much missed half her forelock when masking it off, and look at the giant white area behind the left ear. What a doozy.

Oh well. Could have been worse, I suppose. So with any luck, my third set will be the bay, whenever it gets here. Here's hoping!

There were a couple of other exciting developments today - the other two sculptors for next year's Premier Club have been announced!

Jennifer Scott sculpted the first release (Cancion), so it's anyone's guess as to what Kylee and Heather will be sculpting. I'm excited to find out, though!

And lastly, Breyer is running a holiday sweepstakes:

10 lucky winners will receive two Clydesdale Christmas blind bags from last year's event! Enter here - the deadline is 12/13. I won't be entering, as I don't want any of them - just more stuff to sell, and I have enough of that already. Good luck, everyone!

Spooky Surprise sweepstakes!

Heads up, everybody! Breyer is giving away 18 of the latest Spooky Stablemates blind bags!

18 lucky winners will receive one of these bad boys. I already got the one I wanted, so I'm not going to enter, but if you're still looking, this might be your chance! Good luck to everyone entering!

November Collector Club newsletter!

As usual, this month's Collector Club newsletter is out! Down to the wire as usual, I see. According to the newsletter itself, this is the one-year anniversary of the newsletter. Let's hope it keeps going for years to come, eh? Lots of fun stuff again as usual, and they're doing a giveaway of Tamu and Chai!

I hope they keep these cool giveaways going, too. Good luck to everyone who enters!

Also, there's an interesting sneak peek, as usual:

The thought on the Interwebs is that it's this year's animal special run - perhaps the bear and cub - which would be fine by me since I don't collect the animals. It kind of looks like Emma to me, though? Hopefully it's not her. My wallet needs a break!

The September Collector Club newsletter is out!

Just in time for October to begin, the September Collector Club newsletter has been released! If you're a  Collector Club member, check your email (possibly your spam folder) to read it! Lots of exciting stuff in here - there's an article about the In-Between Mare! Check out these amazing tests for Zahra:

Sheesh. I would bet money that one of those shows up in the Breyerfest live auction next year, or possibly the silent auction. That silver bay is incredible! Any guesses as to what she'd sell for? Holy moly.

Also, Breyer is doing a giveaway of one random Zahra to a lucky winner! Click here to enter. Most excitingly, we have a new sneak peek!

It's a release for October, and my first thought was the final Premier Club model of the year...but those usually come out in November, so I'm not really sure about that. Wait a minute - the last Premier Club release is a splash pinto, so scratch that. Maybe it's the second Collector Club special run of the year? We haven't seen anything about that yet. They've been doing two special runs per year for so long, I can't imagine they'd stop now. But is that level of detail something they'd put on a CC SR? Who knows. Hopefully we don't have to wait forever to find out!

August Collector Club newsletter!

Hey, we got the August Collector Club newsletter, and it's not the last day of the month! How refreshing. Well, first things first - there's a fun article about the origins of clearware, featuring this droolworthy photo:

Breyer's photography usually leaves a lot to be desired, but don't those four models all look spectacular together? But wow, look at this buffalo test model!

Looks like Breyer's interpretation of the Red Bull. Super cool!

There's also a new giveaway in the newsletter - a glossy decorator Dark Horse Surprise model from Breyerfest 2018!

Collectors can enter for him once per account. The deadline is 9/13/20 at midnight!

Lastly, here's a new sneak peek!

According to the Internets, this is the Corazon/Andalusian Foal mold. Interesting...I wonder what the white stripe on the front is supposed to be? Looks a bit like a bongo. I can't see them issuing a foal by itself for a web special, so maybe it's a matching mom-and-baby bongo set with Hermosa? She was just used at Breyerfest, though. I suppose they could match the foal with a different mare, it would just be weird. Well, I guess we'll find out soon!

First Breyerfest special run and January Collector Club newsletter!

Greetings, readers! We finally got a resolution to the sneak peek that went up earlier this week - meet Epona!

Strapless, eh? Not what I was hoping for...and with that name, the color doesn't seem right either. She's pretty, but not really my thing. Let's hope the next special run is something more in my wheelhouse!

In other news, the January collector club newsletter was released today, so CC members should check their email. They're doing a model giveaway every month for the entire year as part of the 70th anniversary celebration, and check out the first giveaway!

Swoon! A WEG chestnut Esprit, limited to 250 made back in 2010 for that year's World Equestrian Games! These were a promotional item for members of the media, so it's unknown how many have actually made it into collectors' hands. I still haven't managed to get my hands on one, so needless to say, I'll be entering the giveaway! Good luck to everyone!

There was also an interesting "berry"-themed sneak peek in the newsletter:

With the "berry" clue, my first thought was the less-than-popular Berries Ponies series of web specials from 2016,  but more savvy Blabbers and Facebookers have suggested it could refer to Huckleberry Bey as well. Maybe Huck is getting his first web special? Exciting!

Enter to Win Breyerfest Banners!

So Breyer is running a rather odd promotion - you can enter to win one of six banners from this year's Breyerfest.

Seems kind of odd, but whatevs. I'm not sure what I'd do with a banner that big (they're 4' x 8' or 2' x 5') but it would be an interesting bit of memorabilia! Enter here.

Poltergeist Sweepstakes

Hmm. evidently Breyer is holding a contest to give away a Poltergeist model to one lucky winner.

Entry period ends at midnight tonight! Edit: Durr, I read the rules wrong. The entry period ends 10/31 at midnight. Get your entry in now if you haven't gotten your Poltergeist yet! The contest is open to everyone; no Collector Club membership required. Good luck!
