FINALLY!

Good news, readers! We finally got something Breyerfest-related today - the reveal of the last few live auction models! Insert grumbling about how there used to be more auction models here. Anyways, here they are! Some of them are still weirdly cropped. There are a few lots still to be revealed, such as (presumably) the raffle models and the live show grand and reserve prizes. But anyway!

That's a Strapless done as a sooty palomino with, well, puzzle-piece dapples. At least that's what they look like to me. Pretty, though!

This one is a wild bay frame overo Lonesome Glory - it's a popular mold, so he'll probably go high. Still, I can't help but wonder what he'd look like in gloss.

This one is a Semi-Rearing Mustang in a grullo tobiano with cat tracks. Cool, but it'd be nice if we could see the whole photo?

Ooh, now these are interesting, even if the mare's face is marked like a giraffe. The mare is a pearly chestnut leopard appaloosa and the foal is a pearly black leopard appaloosa. It'll be interesting to see what these sell for - they're a bit odd-looking, but cute nonetheless.

Ooh, I really like this one, especially the two-toned wings! The blog says he's a glossy metallic blue overo, but he looks like there's some green in the mane, tail and wings. Can't wait to see this one in person so I can get some photos! I wonder if the wings are removable? Usually they are, and it does look like they slot into his back. Someday will we get a more attainable winged release of this guy, since they've done at least one test like this before? I can only hope!

Well, this knocks a few more molds out of contention for the surprise - I'm going to guess it's Goffert at this point, unless he pops up as a raffle model or something. Speaking of raffle models, I can't remember if I've posted my raffle predictions yet, so here goes: Georg and Cancion. Would Breyer use two standing molds in the same year? Who knows, but that's what I'm going with. Guess we'll find out eventually!

In other news, this year's mid-year releases are now available to order on Breyer's website, though the new Strapless won't be shipping until August. I thought about ordering a Mojave, but I'm going to take my chances and hope they have him in the Breyer Store at Breyerfest since that's what I did last year. Here's hoping!

Edit: the rest of the auction models and the raffle models are now posted on the auction website! Check them out here. Looks like I was right about Cancion as a raffle model, but the other one is Fireheart! Gah!

There is a Georg auction model, though:

Along with the German Riding Pony, Carina and Selene, Anamar and the PAM. Notably, there's no Goffert...but also no Hamilton, so the speculation will continue. I'm sticking with Goffert, though! Hamilton is way too popular and doesn't need the surprise boost.

Mid-Year Releases have been officially announced!

Good news, everyone - we finally have an official announcement of the 2023 mid-year releases!

See them all here. Two Trads and some CollectAs seems a bit...uh, meager, so let's hope they have some really exciting stuff coming up later on in the year! I'm kind of intrigued by that Fireheart beach towel, too. Maybe if they're in the Breyer Store at Breyerfest, I'll pick one up...

Speaking of Breyerfest, we only have 3 weeks to go until the grand event! Hooray! I'm getting really excited as the days count down until departure (24 days to go!). I was going to complain about the lack of auction model releases here, but I just looked back at last year's blog posts and it looks like we had to wait even longer for ANY auction model reveals last year, so...bleh. And the year before that we had to wait even longer! I really miss when they would do the auction model countdown - it seemed like it did a good job of building the Breyerfest anticipation! Maybe on Monday we'll get something.

Mid-year releases?

Just a small update today- in this month's issue of Young Rider magazine, there's a photo of a new Breyer model that is presumably a mid-year release (this photo of the photo made the rounds on Facebook today), credit to whoever took it.

Apparently this horse is a stablemate of the portrait model Cobra from a few years ago, and will be at Breyerfest this year! Exciting news. Nothing I need to buy, but that is a really nice-looking paint job on Strapless. I'm excited to see the rest of the mid-year releases! Let's hope they come out soon.

A veritable avalanche of news!

Wow, so many things to report on today! Okay, I'll admit I kinda forgot about updating some new reveals on the blog yesterday, so I'll start with those. Firstly, the special run for next year's Breyerwest has been revealed!

That's right - it's a glossy version of Chardonnay from this year's Breyerfest! I wondered if we were going to ever get glossy store specials. I believe they'll need to be preordered in advance, one per customer, and ID will be checked at the door - they're really serious about people only getting one of these. So if you want one, good luck! I don't need one, fortunately.

Next, here's my first Atli model!

Not gonna lie, I was hoping to get one of the other colors, since the chestnut doesn't seem to be very popular so far. I have another one coming at some point, though, so let's hope that one is a more exciting color than this one. Quality-wise he's fine - I didn't see any issues with him, except that the chestnut color on his legs doesn't go quite far enough to cover up the gold underneath, so it looks a bit like he has gold mapping. No biggie.

Okay, on to the news from today! I'll start with the Black Friday sale (not sure why they opened it, uh, checks notes two weeks before Black Friday, but whatevs). Lots of cool stuff there for Collector Club members, so if you got anything, congrats! I didn't see the sale in time to buy anything, but wouldn't have gotten anything if I had, so I'm cool with it.

It'll be interesting to see if anyone gets a matte Claude - I'm surprised they had any left over to start with. Same with Midas, honestly.

And lastly, the Ponies & Palm Trees event is going on as we speak, and the special runs for the event have been revealed! Behold:

Ugh...very sad I didn't get drawn to go. I need that Duende and Bouncer for the conga! Secondhand prices will be through the roof, but maybe I can trade for one someday or something. Anyways, congrats if you are there and get to buy some of these beauties! I hope attendees are able to get the models they want. Kind of a weird mix of molds for something that was supposed to be based on polo, but I guess that's Breyer for you. I guess the Strapless fits, but not the rest of them.

That's all I have for today - I'm excited to see the centerpiece raffle model for Ponies & Palm Trees, though! Good luck to the attendees!

First Breyerfest special run and January Collector Club newsletter!

Greetings, readers! We finally got a resolution to the sneak peek that went up earlier this week - meet Epona!

Strapless, eh? Not what I was hoping for...and with that name, the color doesn't seem right either. She's pretty, but not really my thing. Let's hope the next special run is something more in my wheelhouse!

In other news, the January collector club newsletter was released today, so CC members should check their email. They're doing a model giveaway every month for the entire year as part of the 70th anniversary celebration, and check out the first giveaway!

Swoon! A WEG chestnut Esprit, limited to 250 made back in 2010 for that year's World Equestrian Games! These were a promotional item for members of the media, so it's unknown how many have actually made it into collectors' hands. I still haven't managed to get my hands on one, so needless to say, I'll be entering the giveaway! Good luck to everyone!

There was also an interesting "berry"-themed sneak peek in the newsletter:

With the "berry" clue, my first thought was the less-than-popular Berries Ponies series of web specials from 2016,  but more savvy Blabbers and Facebookers have suggested it could refer to Huckleberry Bey as well. Maybe Huck is getting his first web special? Exciting!

Another Breyerfest store special!

Wow, it looks like this year's Breyerfest is going to be one for the ages! Check out today's blog post!

According to the blog, one of this year's seminars is going to be a panel discussion about women in horse racing, featuring Donna Brothers and Rosie Napravnik, among others (presumably). Not only that, but Donna Brothers will be doing her horseback interviews (eyeroll) in the Covered Arena on Friday and Saturday, and Rosie will ride her racehorse-turned eventer Old Ironsides during breed demonstrations on Saturday. Speaking of Old Ironsides...he's getting his own store special model! Behold:

Wow, that color looks nice on Strapless! It's very similar to last year's Jacy, actually. Nothing I need to buy, fortunately, but I bet this one will be hard to get your hands on in the store! She's pretty!

That's about all I have for today, except I'm really hoping we get a web special this weekend, since it's now February and that's when last year's first web special showed up. The anticipation is killing me! And we'll probably get the first Stablemate Club horse of the year next week, too. Exciting!
