STOP USING SONG LYRICS FOR NAMES!

Well, we have our reveal, and I was totally wrong with my prediction yesterday. It's the Indian Pony!

Her name is Can't Hold Us Down, which is apparently a Christina Aguilera song. I have to say, when I first heard about the "Against All Odds" theme, I thought it would be...you know, stories about rare breeds surviving "against all odds," or horses/riders overcoming adversity to succeed, or those kinds of things. Not some generic "Girls Rule! Boys...eh, they're there I guess. Girls like horses, right?" sort of theme I'm getting from what we've seen so far. And I'm getting really annoyed by the song-lyrics-as-names thing. I mean, there's precedent for this, what with Breyerfest 2019 being an amalgam of at least three different themes, but come on!

Anyway, the model is nice, if nothing I need. It's good to see another brindle color in mass production, though she's kinda only a partial brindle. Good to experiment with techniques, and all that. Just, can we get some less-cliche reveals now? Maybe I'm just being crotchety again. I'm not going to declare Breyerfest ruined just yet, since this is only the third reveal we've had so far, but...I don't know if I like where this is going.

I really really really wanna Amazigh-ah

More good news, everyone - the next Vintage Club release, Woodstock, is now available for purchase with her Stablemate mini-me!

Please note that this is the optional release for this year's VC, so if you aren't feeling it - you don't have to buy it! Huzzah!

More importantly, the last Premier Club model of the year has finally been revealed! Say hello to the Amazigh horse, Anamar!

Here's his other side!

I definitely like him better from the second angle - his tail looks a bit weird in the first photo, but in the second one you can see it has a little bit of a "wave" to it, if you will. I like his head/face, too. He looks like he'd make a good companion for Carina! I'm a bit surprised that I like this guy as much as I do, since I don't tend to like Sarah Mink's sculpts, but he at least doesn't seem to have the toothpick-looking front legs that the Marchador and Malik both have, so there's that. In any case, I'm excited to order him in December! Also note that this year's free PC Stablemate is being shipped with Anamar, so don't presell yours unless you're okay with that.

That's it for today - let's hope we get some more exciting news this week! Keep it coming, Breyer!

Breyerfest Closeups: Woodstock and Mini Woodstock

Hello and welcome to this year's last Breyerfest Closeups post! Today we're taking a look at Woodstock, an upcoming release for the 2022 Vintage Club.

So we have a woodgrain Indian Pony and her tiny doppelganger, a woodgrain Stablemate Indian Pony! They even put the feathers on the tiny IP's mane, though one wonders why they didn't go all the way and put feathers on the tail as well. Technical problems, I suppose.

So presumably this is the next release in the club? I don't remember if there was any indication of when these are going to be released, but I feel like it may be time for the next one? I guess Gawain was only released last month, though, so we may be waiting a while longer for this one. I guess we'll find out eventually!

2021 Tractor Supply models have been revealed!

Well, now that Breyerfest is a done deal for most people, I guess it's time to talk about the new hotness - this year's Tractor Supply special runs! A planogram showed up on Facebook earlier this week, showing the names of this year's three special runs - Sayan (mustang), Cirrus (American Quarter Horse) and Wilder (Arabian-Appaloosa cross). Now we have photos of the actual setup as it's supposed to appear on the shelves. I'm not sure the photo was intended for public consumption, though, so I won't post it here - but anyway, the three molds in question are the Indian Pony (in...bay, I think?), Bobby Jo in dapple gray and...Ethereal (bay blanket Appaloosa)! Exciting! Fortunately, I only need the Ethereal, so I guess my husband will have to start haunting the local TSC!

Live Show prizes and Teton!

Hello everyone! First things first - the Breyerfest live show prizes were revealed on the blog today! Check them out!

First, meet Victory, the Overall Grand prize!

Ooh, a Yasmin! Too bad she'll be pricey on the aftermarket, if any even go up for sale afterward. But I'm not sure I like that color on her...she just looks a little weird. I don't think that shade of her coat color goes very well with her mane and tail - shouldn't the mane/tail be lighter?

As for the Overall Reserve prize, say hello to Triumph!

I don't know how I didn't suspect the Indian Pony with that obvious war paint in the teaser photo, but I didn't. She's described as a, "few-spot varnish bay chalky Appaloosa." Sheesh, that's a mouthful. She's pretty enough, but the Indian Pony just isn't my thing. Good luck to the live show entrants - I have a feeling the competition is going to be extra-cutthroat this year!

In other news, the drawing for Teton was held today, and Breyer didn't drag it out or make us wait an extra day for once - and I got drawn! Huzzah!

I already completed my order. I hope the warehouse snafu gets worked out soon - I can't wait to see what this girl looks like in person! Congrats to the other winners! And I'm excited to see what the next release in the series will be - I'm sure it'll be revealed at Breyerfest. Less than two months to go now!

Live Auction Lot 15 - Blast from the Past

Today's auction model is on the Indian Pony! Take a look:

This one is a pretty solid "meh" for me, though. I'm not a fan of the mold and the paint job needs some mapping or something to make it look less like a regular run. I do like the pearly sheen and purple shimmer, though. This one was designed by Gretchen Oneail.

Hopefully tomorrow's model is something I like a little better!
