Dylan is here

Greetings, readers! Well, in the midst of our slow news month, my Dylan has finally arrived! Though I didn't order him until the day of the deadline, so his late arrival is really my fault. Drat! 

 

Despite my lack of fondness for his mold, he really is very pretty. If only they'd used a mold I collect! But hopefully I can sell him. I did eventually find a buyer for my Wallowa, so there's still hope. 

That's it for today. I hope we get some new news soon! 

Dylan is now available!

 Good news, Stablemates Club members - the next release, Dylan, is now available for purchase! 

The purchase deadline is 8/22, so we have plenty of time. I'm hoping to sell mine since I don't collect the mold, so hopefully I can find somebody by then! 

Breyerfest Closeups: Remaining Stablemates Club Releases

 Greetings, readers! Well, we've reached the last of our Breyerfest Closeups for this year! The thrilling conclusion is...the rest of the releases for the 2024 Stablemates Club! Behold! 

Here we have all the colors of Miguel, the gambler's choice for this year. I don't collect the Stablemate Donkey mold, so I don't need any of these for my own collection, but I do like the blue one.

The placements of the Stablemates may vary a little bit in these photos, because the floor shifted as I was taking photos of them and caused them to take an unfortunate tumble all over the table. 

They sure are cute, though. 

I'm a little surprised that none of them are glossy. You'd think the blue one would be, at least.

Next is Dylan. I'm guessing he's the August release? I don't think they'd release the gambler's choice this early, but who knows. 

He's pretty, and while his paint job is slightly better-executed than the very similar Phineas from a couple years ago. 

Next is the optional release for this year. I guess I only got one photos of these guys. Oh well - the color is nice, but I don't need the mare or the lying-down foal, so I hope I get the one I want. Insert grumble about gambler's choice stuff here.

Last is Augustus, the final release in this year's club. I like him! He's like a spicy little drafter.

Another Stablemates Club preview!

 Merry Christmas Eve, everyone! Good news tonight - we have another Stablemates Club preview! Say hello to Dylan!

Hmm, he looks like a miniature Anamar. But haven’t we pretty much already seen this color in the Club? Phineas was a very similar color, complete with poorly-executed star dapples. Phineas was also rather hard to resell afterward, and I suspect this one will be the same situation since I don’t collect the mold. On a more positive note, Breyer does need to do more practicing and experimenting if they want to improve, so let’s hope this leads to something better in the future!

Well, I think the only reveal we’re still waiting for is the gambler’s choice. Oh, and the optional model. Any speculation on which they’ll reveal first? The gambler’s choice would probably sell more memberships, so I’m going to hope for that. 

Ruffian! (And Man o' War and Silver Charm. Oops!)

Well, one way or another, the remaining single-day Stablemates have been revealed to the world! First off, let's have a look at Ruffian:



So shiny, I love it! ...But I don't collect the mold, so I won't be buying it, sadly. This is one I would have liked to see on the G2 Thoroughbred. Oh well. From the blog:

Foaled at Claiborne Farm near Paris, KY and trained by Frank Y. Whiteley, Jr., Ruffian measured in at an imposing 16.1 hands despite her young age. Though her career in the early 1970s was short-lived, this champion filly won ten consecutive races between 1974 and 1975 earning more than $300,000.

She's definitely a worthy choice for a single-day Stablemate! I wish they'd put her on a mold I collect, but I'm just not into the G3 Standing Thoroughbred.

In other news, I'd wondered if the other two horses were also going to be portraits...and earlier today a photo of a single-day ticket surfaced on Facebook! The photo isn't mine, but it was posted in the "Road to Breyerfest" group. It seems Breyer is already shipping the tickets out? Anyway, the other two single-day Stablemates are glossy Man o' War on the G3 Cantering Warmblood and glossy Silver Charm (!) on the G4 Driving Horse. I really like Silver Charm, so I wish they'd put him on a mold I collect. As of right now, it looks like the only single-day Stablemate I'm going to get this year is the Man o' War!

As for the "leak," I kinda thought Breyer doesn't usually ship those tickets out until after everything is revealed? Somebody made an oops on that one. But we got to see the other two models earlier, so I'm happy with it!

The links for single-day tickets on the Breyer website are now active, and we can see what the Single-Day Stablemate molds will be!

So those are:

G3 Standing Stock Horse
G3 Cantering Warmblood
G4 Driving Horse
G3 Standing Thoroughbred.

Hey, I predicted one of those - the Driving Horse! Last year I predicted two of them, though...sigh.

There's an interesting mix of molds there - and by "interesting" I mean...why are three of them from the same generation? The Standing Stock Horse and Cantering Warmblood have both been used at Breyerfest 3 times before - the Stock Horse was a Single-Day Stablemate in 2014, and the Cantering Warmblood and Standing Thoroughbred were both Single-Day Stablemates in 2015! (Still looking for the Warmblood...)

I guess you could explain away the Stock Horse by saying Quarter Horses race too, and they're probably trying to pass off the Warmblood as a Thoroughbred. It just seems like there was a wider range of molds they could have picked - the G1s have been popping up all over the place, for instance. I didn't think they'd use the G2 Thoroughbred since she was used last year, but I did think they'd use at least one Arabian since that breed is also known for racing (endurance or otherwise).

Of the four, the only one I want is whatever the Cantering Warmblood turns out to be, so that means I only need to buy one single-day ticket this year. Hopefully I can get the volunteer at the tent to let me pick the one I want - I have a feeling the Warmblood is going to be the most popular, so one of us might need to get in line early.

I'll close by saying I hope they have different packaging for the Stablemates this year - the McDonald's dessert packaging they've been using the last two years isn't nearly as fun as the little themed bags they usually come in.
