Hello and welcome to another edition of Featured JAH! This week we're looking at Mar/Apr 2009, so let's get going!
On the front cover, the new Kuchi model struts her stuff.
In the Editor's Desk, Arlene writes about the ELCR again and previews the magazine as usual.
After skipping Letters to the Editor (whoops), on page 4 is the first page of the article about Kuchi.
The Kuchi article wraps up on page 5, along with a photo of the model. In an "oopsie" that seems to happen fairly frequently, about 2,000 Kuchi models were produced with gelding (rather than mare) anatomy. My own Kuchi is one of these geldings! I never did get a mare version - I figure it's a rather minor difference between the two. The real Kuchi is still alive (or was, as of last year), and turns 26 this year according to the Cherry Creek Vanners Facebook page. Her last foal was a filly born in 2020.
On page 6 we have the first page of an article about the Highland Equestrian Conservancy.
The HEC article concludes on page 7.
On page 8 we have an article about Connor Jessup of "The Saddle Club" fame.
On page 9 is an article about Bold's Obsession, nephew of 1997 Breyerfest Celebration Horse Bold Reflection.
On page 10 we have a small Breyer retrospective, in preparation for the "Birthday Bash" in 2009. The "sneak peak" vs "sneak peek" snafu rears its ugly head as well.
On page 11 is an article about 2008's winner of the USEF Youth Sportsman's Award.
Nektosha makes his debut on page 12! What a beauty.
I usually skip The Artist's Sketch, but decided to include it this time because it featured frequent Breyer sculptor Sue Sifton.
After skipping Mailbag, Model Horse Show and an ad for new G3 Stablemates, on page 18 we have a Breyer UK update.
After skipping Winners' Circle and two how-to articles, on page 24 is the first page of this week's Vintage Point, featuring Zippo Pine Bar.
Vintage Point wraps up on page 25.
After skipping the Mar/Apr Collector's Choice, On the Trail with Breyer and the Calendar of Events, on page 29 we have a short article about Breyer models at FAO Schwarz in NYC.
On the back cover of the magazine we have n ad for some new Classics horse and rider releases, and with that we've reached the end of this week's issue! Check back next week for May/June 2009.
