Featured JAH - 4/26/2025, May/June 2008

Hello and welcome to another edition of Featured JAH! We're covering May/June 2008 with this week's issue, so let's get started!

On the front cover, we have a charming scene of the model version of Theodore O'Connor galloping through a cross-country course with (presumably) Karen O'Connor.

On the inside cover, which I usually skip because it's usually things that aren't that important, we have the announcement of the second ever Breyer Collector Event! This one was the Velvet Rope Event, held at Breyer headquarters. More to come on that later.

In the Editor's Desk, Arlene previews the magazine as usual and gives a little more information about the VRE.

On page 3 we have Letters to the Editor.

On page 4 we have the first page of the article about Theodore O'Connor.

The Theodore O'Connor article wraps up on page 5. According to his Wikipedia page, "Teddy" died in 2008, not long after this issue was published, due to injuries suffered from a riding accident. I don't remember hearing about his demise before, so reading about his death was a bit of a shock (I thought he had died of old age). RIP, Teddy.

On page 6 we're moving right into another portrait horse article, featuring Bluegrass Bandit!

The Bluegrass Bandit article wraps up on page 7. The real Bluegrass Bandit died following colic surgery in 2019, according to a post on Breyer's Facebook page.

On page 8 is the first page of this issue's Breyerfest preview, featuring Alborozo and the special run line items for that year.

The Breyerfest preview continues on page 9 with some delectable prize models and auction models. I wonder where that roan Bluegrass Bandit is now? That PAM is stunning, too.

On page 10, the Breyerfest preview continues with an article about the Tang Dynasty Horse and reveal of the porcelain Tang Dynasty Horse that was available at Breyerfest that year. Pretty sure the model in question was a modified G2 Andalusian.

The Breyerfest preview wraps up with an article about Alborozo on page 11.

After skipping The Artist's Sketch, another ad for the Collector's Club, Mailbag, Model Horse Show, Winners' Circle and an ad for Saddle Club releases, on page 19 we have a dramatic reveal of Moon Warrior! Also one of the more in-demand Connoisseur releases - getting your hands on one may cost a pretty penny.

After skipping a couple of how-to articles and Collector's Corner, on page 24 we've reached this week's Vintage Point article featuring the Haflinger!

I was never a big fan of the Haflinger, but I did have Scat Cat as a child.

On page 26 we have an update on Breyer Canada.

And on page 27 we have an update on Breyer UK!

After skipping On the Trail with Breyer and the Calendar of Events (as usual), on the back cover we have two releases from the My Favorite Horse series! And with that, we've reached the end of another issue! Check back next week for July/Aug 2008!
