The last Breyerfest Limited Edition, first Vintage Club release of the year and more!

Wow, lots of things to post about today! Firstly: the last Breyerfest Limited Edition has been revealed. Say hello to Standing Ovation!

Maybe it's an optical illusion from being turned into a crystal, but his eyes look super-big! Does the original Moody ASB have frog eyes? Dunno, but this guy definitely does! Nothing I need to buy, but he'll make a good addition to collectors' crystal collections (if you can get one that isn't broken).

Secondly, the first Vintage Club release of the year has been revealed! I suspected we'd get a VC release this month since we usually get the first one in January. Anyway, say hello to Inferno!

According to Breyer, this model is inspired by the horses in the Black Stallion series of books (right, because there were so many pinto horses in those books) and each Inferno model will be packaged with a copy of The Black Stallion's Blood Bay Colt. The blood bay colt's name was Bonfire, so Inferno is clearly an homage to that. It's just a bit weird that they would try to tie in a pinto horse to a series of books that doesn't feature a single pinto horse (that I remember), but I suppose a solid bay Black Stallion would have gotten complaints that it was too boring. Imagine if they'd put Bolero's paint job on him and called him Bonfire, though! I wouldn't buy it either way (sorry to the Black), but it would at least make more sense. Oh well.

Lastly, volunteer information for Breyerfest 2025 is now available! Check it out here. Applications will be accepted between 2/1 and 3/10, so if you'd like to volunteer, get your application in! I'm not sure I'm going to apply this year as I'd like to try the Breyerfest show and you're less likely to be picked as a volunteer if you're showing. So we'll see! Good luck to everyone applying, though!

New test run and Black Friday sale!

I guess it's that time again, people - time for another test run to pop up for sale on the website! Check him out:

He's a fleabitten gray test run on the Traditional Black Stallion Mold. Well, uh...he's cool and all, but I don't think he's $950 cool. Seems a bit steep for a mold that isn't terribly popular...but with the sky-high prices for auction and test models lately, who knows anymore. Maybe the resellers won't bother to enter for this one so the people who actually want him can have a chance at him. We can always hope, right?

In other news, the Black Friday sale has apparently already started, and Collector Club members have early access. Check out the sale items here - many of them sold out pretty quickly, including Nayati, Ashquar, Tamu and Chai and a few others. Other things have decidedly not sold out, including the candy cane zebras that are being sold at a price that's actually higher than their original sale price. If they were lower, maybe I'd order one and hope to get a black one, but at $150 a pop, that's not happening. You'd think more of their regular run stuff would be on sale, also (aside from Collecta models) but there isn't much of that, really. Oh well.

In other other news, the new pin board is finally available for purchase, at $35 (ouch!), but it does come with a special Secretariat pin, so there's that. It qualifies for the collector club discount, and it's not hard to add on a few pins to get to the free shipping, so...I may have ordered a pin or five. My VIP pins needed some company, okay? And speaking of pins, when are Breyerfest VIP ticket holders going to get their special "We're sorry" pins we were supposed to get? Let's hope we get an update on that soon, along with a reveal of that blue sneak peek from the October CC newsletter!

I guess I spoke too soon...

Well, looks like I should have kept my mouth shut one more day, because the 2021 Mid-Year releases are here! Let's start with the one we've all been waiting for:

WGH CH Marc of Charm!! That's right, the model rumored to be one of the Breyerfest store specials in 2019 (or was it 2020?) is finally here! He's definitely going on my want list, though I hope the mane and tail are less yellow in person.

Next, we have Tiz the Law!

Seems like kind of a random choice for a Thoroughbred portrait, but that Lonesome Glory is beautiful! Must add him to the collection!

This lovely black Arabian is KB Omega Fahim, a Shagya Arabian stallion who specializes in dressage. I love the blue sheen to the color! Another one I'll have to add to the collection!

Ooh, a black Malik! I love it. Though I really think the Shagya Arabian, or another (not-yet-existing) mold would be the best fit for the Black, as he's frequently described as being too big to be pure Arabian and Malik looks Arabian to the core. But I digress...

The horses-as-food series appears to be continuing, with Red Velvet! Ooh, I love red velvet cake...but I don't collect this mold. Looks like an interesting color, though!

And lastly...Thriller, this year's Halloween model! Apparently dealers are being limited to 12 of these, so be sure to reserve yours fast. I just preordered mine, so hopefully it goes through and I'm the proud owner of a Thriller!
