Ooh, pretty!

Well, we have a reveal of yesterday's sneak peek, and the sleuths on the Internets were right on the money! Say hello to Gascon the Great

What a beauty! Cancion looks great in gray. Here's his other side, for bonus pretty:

I love him! And since this is a store special/Limited Edition, I don't have to put up with a stupid song title name for him! Wins all around.

In slightly sadder news, the emails for Spokes and Spurs went out today, and it doesn't look like I was selected. I was really hoping to be drawn for this one, but I guess it wasn't to be. Congratulations to the winners, though! I can't wait to see the boutique models. Guess I'll be over here hoping I get drawn from the waitlist!

It's not glittery! Not glittery at all!

...Boy, is my face red. I thought those little specks in yesterday's hint were way too tiny to be anything other than glitter. Wrong again! We have a mule in our Breyerfest lineup - behold!

He's really pretty! Too bad I'm not really into the mold. This is looking more and more like a really affordable Breyerfest for me. Huzzah! So this is our second store special after Always Chipper/Chip on Newsworthy.

The blog says there'll be another reveal (or, well, something), so I'm excited to see what it is! Hopefully something I want to buy!

In other news, it was announced today that Peter Stone Horses has been sold to a new company headed by Erin Corbett, and Peter Stone, Breyer Stone Man and his wife Elaine have retired. Hmm, dare I speculate that Breyer might have to step up their game in the near future? Time will tell...

Whoa, another store special!

So Monday's hint has been revealed - it's another Store Special! Behold:

It's a portrait of the real Connemara stallion WH Topgun! And, well...the model is pretty and all, but it doesn't match the real one very well:

But, uh...here's what it does match pretty well:

That's right...the loose-mane bay Connemara from the Best of British set. Okay, so they're not a 1:1 match exactly, but it's close enough to make me scratch my head a little bit.

I'll probably still try to snag a Topgun of my own, but I don't anticipate him being a huge seller. I guess we'll have to see how the store specials are distributed.

I'm so relieved!

So we got a reveal earlier than Friday after all! Take a look at this show-stopper store special:

Gasp! He's beautiful. Too bad I'm not a Shannondell collector, because he'll be a hot commodity this year! From the blog:

Benelli, a blue roan Clydesdale gelding, is a versatile asset for the Hawkes Ranch hitch as he can be driven in any position, but he truly shines out front as the leader of this hitch that pulls an unmistakable purple cart.
Ooh, I love draft hitch teams! And the blog says they'll be at Breyerfest! Our local draft horse show recently went kaput, so I'll take a hitch sighting wherever I can get it! This year's Breyerfest is looking to be a doozy (and I mean that in a good way)!

Hal is official!

Greetings, readers! You may remember that I posted about a chestnut Store Special on the Dundee mold a week or so ago. Well, he's now been announced on the blog - check him out!

From the blog:

A 1997 Quarter Horse, Hal came to owner and trainer Jonathan Field at age 3 with aggression issues. The pair spent time learning to trust and communicate with each other and an amazing partnership between the two began. For many years, Hal accompanied Jonathan and performed at expos and events. Now semi-retired, he’s enjoying life on Jonathan’s ranch in Canada.

Nice story and all, but I can't help but wonder if he was also chosen because his name could be a reference to Hal Jordan, also known as the Green Lantern? One can only wonder. In any case, this guy definitely needs to join my collection - I'm excited that they finally came out with something I want. Between him and what's almost certainly a Weather Girl they're teasing for tomorrow, things are looking up!

No Hal, but..Rico!

Wow, the reveals are coming fast and furious this week! At least, fast and furious for Breyer... Yesterday we had the Hal store special reveal, and today we have another store special - Rico!

From the blog:

A striking grey Arabian/Andalusian stallion, he’s best known for performing many of the rearing elements seen in the Grand Liberté. Born in 1999, his path connected with Sylvia’s when he was only three. She’d been warned that he was very strong minded and tended to rear, but for Sylvia it was love at first sight. She loaded him in her trailer, and Rico was performing with her and her team of horses in three months! While he may have displayed some wild behavior in his past, today he loves to perform and his kind personality shines when he interacts with kids.

I'm not sure Silver works as an Andalusian, but that doesn't really matter, right? And he matches the picture of the real Rico rearing pretty well, so I'm okay with it. So that makes two store specials I'll have to nab! I wonder if we'll get any more - I don't think Breyer has ever done more than three store specials. Hopefully they release an official photo of Hal so I can post it here!

Finally, something I want!

Sound the alarm! Alert the authorities! Release the hounds! There's a Breyerfest 2019 special run I actually want!

I don't yet have a photo of it I can use, unfortunately, but he's a looker! Dundee in solid chestnut - he's one of the store specials and his name is Hal! Huzzah! Apparently a flyer was mailed out to some hobbyists, and/or this flyer turned up at a Vegas toy show - I'm getting conflicting information on the source. Hopefully Breyer puts him on the website soon now that the cat's out of the bag!

Aww, Geez

I completely blanked on posting about yesterday's Breyerfest special run reveal! What a dunce. Well, better late than never. Say hello to Zipped in Black Magic!

He's our first Store Special model to be revealed! The real Zipped in Black Magic is a therapy horse in Pennsylvania, according to the blog. He's definitely pretty, although I don't collect the Zippo mold!

As a Store Special, he shouldn't be too hard to get hold of, for those that want him. In the meantime, let's see something I actually want to buy! I'm 0 for 4 so far - although that does mean this year's Breyerfest may be lighter on my pocketbook than usual!

...Oh.

Woo, the sneak peek has been revealed. It's a store special portrait of Scamper with special barrels.

...Really? All my whys on this one. No offense to the real Scamper or his connections, but he's already had his run on this mold. From the blog:

To celebrate Scamper and the sport of Barrel Racing, Charmayne James will be joining us at BreyerFest this year with current rides, Grasshopper and Cruisin on Six! In 2002, James and Cruiser took home her 11th WPRA World Title and seventh NFR average title. She will be performing daily in the arena as well as offering clinics throughout the weekend.

So...why do a Scamper reissue, when her two other horses are right there? Especially since Cruiser is the other horse she won a world championship with!

That was the only picture I could find of Cruiser (unless I'm looking in the wrong places), but he looks sufficiently different from Scamper in my book. And the Scamper mold has never been issued in that particular color - it could have worked really well! Bleh. Not that I would have bought it anyway, as I don't collect this mold, but that's not important.

But, maybe Charmayne wanted the model to be another Scamper. Not sure why she would turn down a chance to have two of her horses made into Breyer portrait models, though.

So, unless those models are all painted amazingly well, this release is a miss for me. It does look like the new release has a light right hind hoof (compared to the original's gray) so at least there's that. Probably won't help with telling them apart on the shelf, though.

Dally and Spanky are official!

There's a new post on the Breyer Blog, and the hint we got on Saturday was definitely accurate! Meet Dally and Spanky:

From the blog:
These two are quite the dynamic duo! Spanky is a miniature horse and Dally is a Jack Russel. Spanky is a luxurious Dark Bay with his signature ‘S' on his hindquarters. Spanky is on the Shetland Pony mold (#25) and Dally is a classic Jack Russel (sic) terrier.

So Dally is on the JRT, with a cute little neckerchief, and Spanky is on the Merrylegs mold. They're definitely cute! I won't need them for my collection, but interestingly enough, my husband might want them.

They'll be Store Specials at Breyerfest, although someone at Breyer needs to work on their grammar, as usual. This sentence is a train wreck:
These adorable gift set will be available at BreyerFest 2017 Gateway to India as a Store Specials.
I think you meant this, Breyer:
This adorable gift set will be available at Breyerfest 2017 Gateway to India as a Store Special.
Or perhaps this?
These adorable gift sets will be available at Breyerfest 2017 Gateway to India as Store Specials.

Either way, they're cuties! I can't wait to see them in person!  Here's the real duo in action, from Saturday's email.
