Whoa, I'm a little behind the times here. Breyer revealed this year's diorama prize on the blog yesterday! We already knew it was a glossy Athenian Lady, but it's always great to see photos. Here she is!

Diorama prize revealed!
Oooooh, what a beauty. Good luck to everyone entering the contest! I finally started the actual work on my idea today. Most of my materials are here, so I figured it was high time to get started. More info can be found here, but the entry deadline is 6/21, so don't miss out!

Stubbs reveal and Crane selections!
Our sneak peek from Friday has been revealed - huzzah! Here's Stubbs at long last:
I have to admit the Hanoverian isn't one of my favorite molds, though I had three of them back in the day (Art Deco was one of my favorites as a child), but dang, this guy is pretty! His tail looks weird, though - I think usually they're lower? I wonder if that was done on purpose so he looks like he's flipping his tail a little bit. Either way, that color is beautiful!
Also, the selections for Crane are out! I don't think I've been chosen for this one, yet again...sigh. Maybe I can find one for sale for a decent price? Congratulations to the lucky winners, though!

The Diorama Contest prize is revealed!

Pretty, but not my cup of tea. From the blog:
A Feis (pronounced fesh) is a traditional Gaelic arts and cultural festival that commonly includes Irish dance competitions. Feiseanna are held all around the world these days, and if you’d like to get a taste for yourself, you’ll be able to see students from the Bluegrass Ceili Academy performing at BreyerFest this summer!
Well...if we're really lucky, maybe we'll get to see those students perform. The way things are now, I suspect we'll be watching videos of them instead....

Diorama contest prize has been revealed!

His color looks really similar to Muir Woods! I wonder if there's a connection there.
This isn't the first time the Haflinger has been a prize at Breyerfest - he was the Scepter Contest prize model in 2005 and one of the glossy prizes at the Children/Youth show in 2012. I'm guessing he gets used so Breyer doesn't get flooded with entries - can you imagine how many people would enter the diorama contest if the prize model was a Wintersong? Even I'd have to come up with something! They'd be judging the entries until the park opened on Saturday morning!
He is nice, though, so good luck to everyone who enters the diorama contest!

Breyerfest Diorama Contest prize revealed!

Of all the potential molds Breyer could have used, this was about the last one I would have thought of. Their MO for at least the last few years has been to use an older mold for the diorama contest, so I thought Phar Lap would be a sure thing...you know, since he's a Thoroughbred, and galloping. Clearly I was wrong!
If you don't recognize the mold, that's the new Boomerang mold that was introduced at the start of last year as part of the Spirit Riding Free collection. While the color is really nice, the mold just doesn't appeal to me. I feel like I've been saying that a lot about these BF 2018 releases - the early bird raffle, the PAM, Woodford, Inari, Icabad Crane - but it's true. They keep using molds I don't collect! But I won't complain too much, because it means this year's Breyerfest might be slightly easier on my wallet. Who knows - maybe Phar Lap will pop up somewhere else!
I already wasn't planning on entering the Diorama Contest due to my lack of skills (and good ideas) - but if you are, good luck with your entry!

Meet the Diorama Contest prize, Sona!

Seriously, I love his mane and tail. But then, I'm always a sucker for pearly anything. If they put this color on a mold I collected, I'd die of happiness (and then die of despair when it inevitably ended up being something just as unattainable). I'm not entering the diorama contest, but good luck to everyone who does!

Diorama Contest Prize Teaser!

From the blog:
Can you guess which model this might be based off of this tiny taste?
Hopefully it will inspire a lot of Diorama Contest creativity over the weekend! Keep checking the Breyer Blog next week to see the full model unveiled!
Looks like El Pastor to me - excellent, I don't need to feel guilty about not entering the diorama contest yet again. Hopefully they do something to make him stand out from Escondido and Tesoro - I'm guessing he'll be a pinto of some type. As usual, the mold doesn't really fit the "India" theme, but I really don't think Breyer puts that much thought into the theme when planning which molds to use - I think they just pick the molds ahead of time and make sure they at least name them something that fits.
Let's hope they don't dawdle too much with revealing this - I'll be checking the blog all day Monday!
