BreyerMidwest Day 2

Well, the second day of BreyerMidwest is over! It was...a bit slower of a day than yesterday, but that's probably for the best, considering the extremely long drive awaiting me tomorrow. It was a pretty leisurely day, really - sleep in, head to Equifest, wander around there for a while...the only deadline I really had was getting to the silent auction at 2:30 (success!) and then the swap meet at 7 (also success!) Behold, the day's purchases!

I was successful in both of today's goals - get the glossy Athenian Lady in the silent auction, and find a gray Salud! Woohoo! I also found the two blind bag Stablemates I still needed from last year's new series (well, technically I still need the G2 TB chase piece, but I don't want to pay much more than retail for it), plus a red filigree Wassail for a decent price. Not pictured: the two pony pouches I bought with the last of my cash. They're intended for Stablemate foals, with two spaces each. I may have to buy more later if I keep showing a lot of Stablemate foals.

So the swap meet was a success as well, although the room really wasn't quite big enough for the amount of selling going on within. There was a big long hallway right outside, so I kinda figure some of those tables could have gone out there? They probably could have sold even more tables, too. I'm low-key jealous I couldn't get into the swap meet, because there were a ton of people shopping and it would have been great to get some stuff sold. Oh well.

So that's pretty much it for my BreyerMidwest trip! Now to get some rest before the long drive tomorrow.

Fandango is here!

Exciting news, readers! My Deluxe Collector Club model Fandango arrived today - behold!

What a pretty guy!

He's more of a dark gray than black, very similar to Lafayette. He has dapples too, and detailed eyes.

Quality-wise he's pretty nice - I didn't see any major flaws. Definitely glad I joined the Deluxe Collector Club this year! Speaking of the Club, this year Deluxe members get a special pin as well! The pin was included with Fandango, naturally, so here it is:

I was kind of expecting the pin to say Deluxe Collector Club on it, but what do I know? I'm just a member of the club. Oh well - Bolero looks good in pin form.

Anyways, now that it's October, we should be seeing a reveal of next year's Collector Club stuff at some point here. At some point they need to release Jota, though, so maybe that'll happen first.

Fandango is available!

Attention, Deluxe Collector Club members! The Deluxe bonus model, Fandango, is ready to order!

Breyer is switching things up a bit this year and letting people "order" him for free to make sure they all go to the right address! Which is good, because I'm sure I'm not the only deluxe CC member to move this year. And we get our deluxe pins with him, too! Let's hope the boxes aren't tiny enough to get lost behind desks, delivery truck seats, conveyor belts, etc. We have until 10/15 to order these, so don't forget to get your orders in! I'm excited to get a new Twist in my collection.

Poppy & Ollie, and new releases this week!

Lots of exciting news to share today! Firstly: the final release of the 2022 Vintage Club, Poppy and Ollie, is now available to order for Vintage Club members. Remember that the free Stablemate for this year, Dandy, is bundled with this set. Woohoo!

Secondly, this year's second Collector Club release, Chadwick, is finally being released on Wednesday at 12PM EST. Here's a pic to jog your memory!

He's nothing I need, but that's okay. More for everyone else!

And lastly, this year's holiday Stablemate blind bags (groan) have been revealed:

They're definitely pretty, and I need three of them! They're limited to two per order, so I'm just going to order three and be done with it. That's the number I'd buy if we were allowed to pick the ones we want. So let's hope I'm lucky again! These will be available TOMORROW at 12PM EST. I expect they'll sell out fast, so if you want them, don't waste any time ordering. And good luck!

THEY'VE REALLY DONE IT THIS TIME

Alert, readers! Summon the hounds! Stop the presses! Release the kraken! Signups for the 2023 Collector Club have been announced, led by this incredible beauty! AHHHH!

Fireheart, you say? In bay? GLOSSY BAY? Sign me up! Here's the full view:

His name is Bolero, and he's to die for! He's the first Collector Club special run of the year. Let's hope they make enough of him, because he's going to sell out fast.

And here's the Stablemate for the Deluxe Collector Club!

His name is Fandango! What a handsome guy. And in addition to this guy, Deluxe Collector Club members get a pin!

I guess they're going all-in on roping in all the pin collectors out there.

And that's not all - we also have a reveal of the first release in next year's Premier Club!

His name is Cancion and he's a Paso Fino, according to the filename on the photo. What a handsome boy! I like him. I wouldn't mind seeing a few more angles before I decide if I want him, though. I'm sure we'll get that when PC memberships open. I wonder who the sculptor is? Looks like a Kitty Cantrell piece to me - that hind end looks very similar to Geronimo's and the tail reminds me of Dundee.

Unfortunately, the price of joining the club has gone up to $30, but considering the inflation and price hikes that have already happened this year, I'm not really surprised. I wonder if the cost of the Premier Club and Vintage Club models will go up too? Guess we'll find out, probably fairly soon!

Well, at least it's a Stablemate...

Still no Best of Breyerfest set reveal, but we did get the Limited Edition Stablemate today! Say hello to Wittelsbach!

He's cool, I guess, and I'll get one anyway because I like the sculpt, but as others have mentioned, he's really similar to Newmarket from 2018, and that one wasn't exactly a top seller...so it seems a bit of an odd choice. Sure, he's a tad lighter blue, and the diamonds are oriented a different way, but still...I'm not crazy about the stripes in his mane and tail, either - they're painted too evenly or something. I suppose they'd have had to mask it to make it look more natural, but they're already masking the rest of the model anyway, so why not? I predict a lot of leftovers of these guys.

From the blog:

Ruling over Bavaria from 1180-1918, the House of Wittelsbach is one of the oldest dynasties to have ruled in Germany. The familiar crest of white and blue lozenges was acquired by the House of Wittelsbach when the Counts of Bogen, an eastern Bavarian noble family, died off. The crest later became the state flag of Bavaria.

The House of Wittlesbach produced many well-known people of nobility, but maybe none as famous as Bavarian King Ludwig II. A devout believer in the fine arts, he spent a lot of his time and money advancing his access to them. Although dubbed “mad,” as some thought he lived in a world of fairytales and dreams, he created some of the most iconic castles and pieces of architecture in Germany such as Neuschwanstein Castle.

So there's a connection to Germany, at least. Oh well - maybe we'll get the Best of Breyerfest set tomorrow!

Twist and shout (or: Ooh, Shiny!)

Good news, everyone! My Twist is here, along with Leti and Addie!

Whew! What a handsome boy. This guy is all stallion and he knows it.

I love his color - we don't get chestnut rabicano very often and I think they pulled it off pretty well despite his small stature. He does have some marks on his tail that are intended to be the Stablemate version of a coon tail, so don't fret - they're supposed to be there.

He's also a big boi - check him out next to a G2 Prancing Morgan, the closest older Stablemate I had at hand. Either Sequins is a small Morgan or Twist is a really big Arabian. Hmm, maybe Twist has some Polish blood? Heh heh.

Next, here's Addie!

My photo of her other side must have gotten lost somewhere along the way. Oh well. She's cute, though a bit lacking in detail. I like her color, though.

And here's Leti!

I still find it funny that we get a new Stablemate draft foal before getting a new Traditional draft foal, considering we've been waiting for a new one for oh, 30 years now? Maybe longer? They have to be doing it on purpose at this point. Well, maybe someday the poor Clydesdale Foal will get an updated companion.

Quality-wise, they were all pretty good, other than Twist's uneven nostrils - not sure what happened there.

Speaking of drafts, we got a reveal of another 2022 Stablemates Club release today! Say hello to Jameson!

Black pinto is always a striking color, especially in glossy! The G1 Drafter has always been a chonk, but I have to say he looks great in this color. Not great enough for me to keep him, but theoretically he'll be pretty popular on the secondary market. I could be wrong, though.

Anyways, it's good to have the new reveals coming left and right lately! Now if they would just show us the 2022 new releases...

Lots of exciting things today!

Greetings, readers! There's a lot of things to announce today - firstly, the selections for Zugspitze have been made, so check your emails and/or accounts! I'm happy to say I was drawn for one, so a silver filigree chonk will be coming my way soon.

In other happy news, Twist, the final entry in this year's Stablemates Club, is ready to order, along with the optional foal set Leti and Addie!

I purchased all of them - can't wait to see them in person!

In other exciting news, it looks like the Deluxe Collector Club model, Chalice (the glossy buckskin mini Alborozo) will be shipping soon, as he's been added as an unfulfilled order on my account. I also have an unfulfilled order for the VIP Breyerfest pin, so those must be shipping soon as well. Lots of fun things heading my way! Hopefully I see my backordered pin board show up soon as well...

What a tweest!

More exciting news today, readers - we finally get to see the final Stablemates Club release of the year! If you're a member of this year's club, check your email for more. And say hello to Twist!

His name seems kinda low-effort- I'd at least have named him Twister. Oh well, I don't make the rules.

He's definitely a beauty! I can't wait to purchase mine. He's apparently still on track to ship in December, and evidently we'll be able to order the bonus foal set with him (which is good, because I want those as well). It just kind of hurts that they're twisting (heh) the knife with today's reminder about the Stablemate drafter foal, after just revealing yesterday that the new mare and foal set for this year are NOT drafters. Maybe next year, eh?
