It's a Halloween Extravaganza!

Good news for Collector Club members! Breyer has finally unveiled this year's Halloween Classic model - along with a bunch of other stuff! Check out the sale! Not only do we get a Classic model, but the Spooky Surprise Stablemates are also available, plus a plush! Let's take a look at the Classic, Salem:

Finally, a new release for Mason! I love him. At first glance he looks like an ordinary chestnut (bay?) pinto...until you notice the purple shimmer. And the cats in his pattern. And the pawprints! There's more to find every time you look at him. And he glows in the dark!

At a very quick glance he almost looks like a mini-me of Hamilton. Maybe we'll get a set someday?

So I count at least four cats, right? Possibly a fifth, if the fifth one isn't a dog? Pretty cool stuff - I wish Breyer would do patterns like this more often. I can't wait to see mine in person!

The Spooky Blind Bag Stablemate are also available in the sale! We got a peek at them at Breyerfest, but here they are again! Here's Mini Ichabod:

Mini Calavera:

And Mini Bats in the Belfry:

The amount of detail on these guys is incredible! I love the little bats on Bats in the Belfry. I've seen some angry rumblings about their prices ($25 each), but honestly - the level of detail is so high, I think they're worth it. Do I think last year's Fruitcake Fillies were worth the price? Probably not, but they weren't nearly as detailed as these. I won't be buying any regardless, since I don't collect the molds, so it's nice to be able to save some money and not have to deal with more blind bag annoyances.

Lastly, let's look at the plush!

Apparently his name is Boo! What a cutie. People that collect the Breyer plushes must have a pretty good collection going by now. I love his little bat mask! I don't buy the plushes either, though, so that's one more for the rest of you!

The Halloween Traditional, Samhain, is also part of the sale, but I think I've already talked about her in a previous post. These items are available to Collector Club members for now, but will become available to everyone eventually - presumably next week. So make sure you get your order again before they sell out!

This post feels a lot like a promotional sales post, now that I think about it. So let me reiterate that I don't work for Breyer! I just like to blog about their products!

Breyerfest Closeups: Halloween Stablemates

Greetings, readers! Continuing in our series of Breyerfest Closeups, today I'm going to talk about the Halloween Stablemates that were featured in the Collector Club tent. Take a look!

It's been a while since Breyer last did any Halloween-themed Stablemates. The last time we saw any new ones (unless I'm forgetting something) was the Spooky Stablemates II set back in 2006, preceded by Spooky Stablemates in 2005. It's been a while!

So, our three molds are as follows:

G4 Arabian as Calavera
G4 Reining Horse as Bats in the Belfry
Rivet as Ichabod/Crane

Fortunately for me, none of those are molds I collect. Since it looks like these guys will be blind bags and/or shipped randomly, that's one less pile of blind bag garbage to deal with. Can you tell I'm getting tired of the blind bag gimmick? Well, anyway, here's a closeup of Mini Ichabod.

I love the detail on the little skulls! It's amazing what they can paint on Stablemates these days. Remember the fuzzy bats on the original Nosferatu? Haha! We've certainly come a long way from those days.

Mini Calavera is cute too, and they all have really great details, honestly. One wonders how the painters do it without going cross-eyed.

Hopefully these guys sell well - I always like seeing Stablemate mini-me models pop up, and more of these Halloween-themed guys would be very welcome. And I wonder if we'll still get a Halloween Classic this year if they're doing the Stablemates? I don't think Mason would lend himself to the Halloween spirit very well, but you never know. His mold has been sadly neglected since its introduction last year, so let's hope we get some kind of new release on him soon.

Allegiance is now available for purchase!

This year's fifth Stablemate Club release, Allegiance, has been revealed and is ready to order!

Yay, patriotism! According to the email blurb, this guy is a mini-me of Patriot, one of the special runs from last year. Not sure why they thought releasing this guy now instead of like, June or August was the way to go - last year's decorator, Ricochet, came out in August, and it probably would have been better to release this guy closer to July 4, but oh well.

I liked Patriot, and I like the paint job on this guy, but I'm just not a fan of the mold, sadly. So, both of ours will have to be rehomed. But that's a good thing when you're trying to cut back on purchases - I just hope we can at least get our money back. I don't think that'll be terribly difficult, though. If you're in the club, happy ordering!
