Featured JAH - 3/1/25, Jan/Feb 2007

Hello and welcome to another edition of Featured JAH! We're starting a new year this week with Jan/Feb 2007, so let's get going!

On the cover is the handsome Salinero with Anky van Grunsven.

In the Editor's Desk, Arlene previews the magazine and mentions how it had been given a slight redesign to give it "more of an ageless look." Jury's still out on whether it's ageless or not.

On page 3 is Letters to the Editor.

On page 4 we have the first part of an article about the Portland Horse Project.

The Portland Horse Project article wraps up on page 5. The Portland Horse Project appears to still be going strong and celebrates 20 years this year! Huh.

On page 6 we have An Insider's Guide to Breyerfest!

The Insider's Guide to Breyerfest wraps up on page 7.

After skipping a Breyer ad for Snoozy Horses (must not have been big sellers), on page 9 we have more winners of the Paint Your Dream Horse contest, featuring more recognizable names! Anyone you know?

On page 10 is the first page of the Salinero article, along with the reveal of his Breyer model!

The Salinero article ends on page 11.

On page 12 is the debut of the beautiful Cassiopeia, the latest Connoisseur model. Look at those dapples! Too bad we don't seem to see models painted like this nowadays, unless they're auction models. Come to think of it, now that the web specials seem to be produced in runs of 500 or more, maybe it's time for the Connoisseur series to make a comeback? I believe that's what Ambrose and Midas were more-or-less intended to be, anyways.

After skipping the kids' section of the magazine (very brief compared to previous issues; maybe that's the "ageless look" Arlene was referring to), on page 19 we have some model horse show results featuring people that are still in the hobby today!

After skipping two how-to articles and Horse Trader, on page 25 we have this question of who would be the next UK model horse. As far as I know, none of the horses topping the poll got Breyer models, and I don't know who ended up being chosen, if anyone.

On page 26 is the first page of this week's Vintage Point article, this week featuring Rugged Lark!

Vintage Point wraps up on page 27. That's...kind of a sad lineup for a mold that debuted in 1989, but Rugged Lark has never been all that popular, so I get it.

After skipping On the Trail with Breyer and the Calendar of Events, on the back page of the magazine we have the Deluxe Wood Barn! And that brings us to the end of this week's issue. Check back next week for Mar/Apr 2007!
