Featured JAH - 2/8/2025, July/Aug 2006

Hello and welcome to another edition of Featured JAH! This week we're covering July/Aug 2006, so let's get started!

On the front cover, we see the aftermath of the annoying years when the magazine was mailed out with the address label applied directly to the front cover. Those labels were such a hassle to remove! Glad we get our magazines mailed in an envelope now. Also, Authentic and Beezie Madden compete at a show in Florida.

In the Editor's Desk, Arlene talks about Barbaro, the ill-fated 2006 Kentucky Derby winner, who broke his leg while running in the Preakness Stakes prior to the publication of this issue. She also previews the rest of the magazine.

On page 3 we have Letters to the Editor and some corrections.

After skipping a how-to article, on page 6 we have the first page of the article about wonder horse Beautiful Jim Key.

The Jim Key article concludes on page 7, along with a reveal of his portrait model.

On page 8 is the first page of the article about Authentic, including his portrait model!

The Authentic article concludes on page 9.

On page 10 we have the first page of the article about horse actor Dollor, along with his portrait model! This was a TSC special run.

The Dollor article concludes on page 11.

After skipping Breyer jr., Collector's Corner, another how-to article and a book review, on page 23 we have another Breyerfest 2006 preview, this time revealing the raffle models and the carousel contest prize, the highly-sought-after silver filigree Clydesdale Foal!

After skipping Horse Trader (now down to less than a full page), on page 25 we have the full reveal of the new G3 Stablemate molds! Huzzah! These were the first new Stablemates molds since 1998, so their release was long overdue.

On page 26 we have the first page of this week's Vintage Point article, this week featuring the Traditional Stock Horse Foal. I had a few of these, once upon a time.

The Vintage Point article concludes on page 27. Interesting tidbit: I desperately wanted Golden Joy (pictured at the top of page 27, incorrectly referred to as Golden Jay in the text) when I was a kid, but never ended up getting one. I did have the gray SHF next to Golden Joy, though.

On page 28 we have On the Trail with Breyer, with the Rocky Road Classics model (not sure if it's been on the blog before).

After skipping the Calendar of Events, on the back cover we find the portrait model of Barbaro and a short article about him and his recovery at the New Bolton Center. And that brings us to the end of this week's issue! Check back next week for Sept/Oct 2006!
