Hello and welcome to another edition of Featured JAH! This week we're covering the Annual 2015 issue, so let's get going!
On the front cover, a Fallon Taylor doll rides Babyflo through a barrel racing pattern.
In the Editor's Desk, Stephanie announces the Stablemates Club and the redesign of the magazine, as well as shipping the magazines in envelopes. No more address labels damaging the covers! Huzzah!
On page 5 we have an update on the Live Benefit Show Program, which is now defunct. Maybe it'll come back someday?
On page 6 is the first page of the article about American Pharoah, the first horse in 37 years to win the Triple Crown! Can't believe it's already been 10 years.
The American Pharoah article concludes on page 7. Pharoah is, of course, still alive and went on to lose the Travers to Keen Ice (boo) and then win the Breeder's Cup Classic (yay!). He had been shuttling to Australia for a few years, but I don't think he's shuttled the last few years. But fear not! I just saw an update from Coolmore that he'll shuttle to Japan this year for the first time. Exciting!
After skipping page 8 (a photo of Foiled Again and unidentified companion), on page 9 is the first part of the article about Foiled Again!
The Foiled Again article wraps up on page 10.
After skipping a reveal for the 2016 Vintage Club and the first part of the Fallon Taylor/Babyflo article (a photo of Babyflo competing with Fallon), the article appears on page 13!
On page 14 we have a making-of article about the Fallon Taylor doll in the cover photo.
The doll article concludes on page 16.
After skipping the first part of the Valegro article (a photo of Valegro with Charlotte Dujardin), the article starts on page 17.
The rest of the Valegro article appears on page 18.
On page 19 we have the annual Breyerfest photo journal.
The Breyerfest photo journal continues on page 20.
The photo journal concludes on page 21.
After skipping the Valegro model reveal (I think we all know what he looks like), as well as the Geronimo reveal (I think we know what he looks like too), as well as a how-to article, on page 26 we come to an article about Collector's Classes.
The Collector's Class article continues on page 27.
The Collector's Class article concludes on page 28.
On page 29 we have an article about showing minis.
After skipping another model horse show article, on page 33 we come to the first page of this week's Vintage Point, featuring the Proud Arabian Stallion!
Without putting all that much research into it, this feels like the first time a mold has repeated in Vintage Point (the PAS was previously featured back in the '90s). But I could be wrong.
Vintage Point continues on page 35.
Vintage Point continues to continue on page 36.
Vintage Point wraps up on page 37.
On page 38 we have an article about the In-Between Mare, written by the Breyer History Diva herself, Andrea Gurdon (RIP).
After skipping an article about painting and a customizing article, as well as the 2015 New Product Guide, on page 54 we have "On the Trail." Interesting that Steph went to Badminton on a "scouting trip for a possible event for Breyer in 2016." The Breyer event ended up being Chasing the Chesapeake, but I'm surprised they considered going that far outside the USA.
On the inside back cover we have the Stablemates Club reveal! Primrose was the first release of the club, on the G1 Quarter Horse Mare, which hadn't been used in many years.
On the back cover we have Peppermint Kiss, the 2015 Holiday Horse, and that brings us to the end of this week's issue! Check back next week for Annual 2016!
