Hello and welcome to another edition of Featured JAH! Thanks to a generous Blabber, I'll be able to cover May/June 2010 after all, so let's get going!
On the front cover, another Robin Briscoe diorama portrays Fleetstreet Max in a trail class.
In the Editor's Desk, Arlene talks up Breyerfest and the 2010 WEG and previews the magazine as usual. There's also a Who Am I? and a contest to find the hidden Fleetstreet Max models.
Letters to the Editor appears on page 3 as usual.
On page 4 we have the first page of the Fleetstreet Max article.
The Fleetstreet Max article wraps up on page 5.
On page 6 we have a Breyerfest preview featuring many of the equine guests for that year.
On page 7 we have a reveal of the new-for-2010 Elvis Presley collection.
The Breyerfest preview continues on page 8 with several of that year's models, including the live show grand and reserve prizes and the handsome You Oughta Be in Pictures raffle model.
After skipping the last page of the Breyerfest preview (Austin Anderson) and an ad for the My Favorite Horse Mystical Unicorn, on page 11 we have an ad for Breyerwest 2010 (still being held in California at this point) and another ad for the Secretariat movie.
On page 12 the beautiful Pandora Connoisseur model makes her debut! I had a Pandora model for a while, but sold her off with the rest of my Rejoice models.
After skipping The Artist's Sketch, Mailbag, Model Horse Show and a book ad, on page 18 we have a preview of the 2010 World Equestrian Games. This was a pretty big deal for the Kentucky Horse Park and the USA as a whole, considering it was the first time the WEG was held outside of Europe. The Alltech Arena was built for the WEG, along with other improvements to the park, and Breyer went all out with their special runs for the event.
The WEG preview wraps up on page 19.
After skipping a couple of how-to articles, on page 24 is the first page of this week's Vintage Point featuring the Classic Andalusian Stallion.
Vintage Point wraps up on page 25.
After skipping Winners' Circle and the Calendar of Events, on page 28 we have On the Trail with Breyer and a Breyer Canada update.
After skipping an ad for Pony Gals stuff, on the back cover is the reveal of the O'Leary's Irish Diamond model. The real O'Leary's Irish Diamond died on Aug. 8, 2010, not long after appearing at Breyerfest, of an illness picked up while at Breyerfest. RIP!
And with that, we've reached the end of this week's issue! A special thanks to Lea R. for allowing me to borrow this issue. Next week we'll be covering July/Aug 2010, so be sure to check back!
